from Children's Corner. Par BIRTEL WOLFGANG. The famous Golliwogg’s Cakewalk is the final piece from Debussy's cycle Children’s Corner which consists of 6 miniatures for piano, written for his daughter in the years 1906-1908.
The style corresponds to that of ragtime, a dance which was in vogue around the turn of the century. In the middle section, he parodies several times the beginning of the opera Tristan and Isolde by Richard Wagner with whom Debussy had a rather ambiguous relationship.
The present arrangement now allows musicians to play the popular movement in a version for piano trio./ Répertoire / Trio avec Piano

Par RAVEL MAURICE. Created during the First World War, Maurice Ravel's composition 'Le Tombeau de Couperin' casts a longing look at the past while at the same time being full to the brim with traces of modern music. Each of the six movements is dedicated to friends who died in battle. In 1919 Ravel arranged four of these movements for large orchestra by skilfully borrowing melodic lines and colours from the piano setting.
In the present new arrangement written for the Stella Piano Trio, these elements were adjusted to the instrumentation and their relationship within the ensemble. As in Ravel's orchestration, each note is taken into account, even if the cello is sometimes given a melody which is an octave lower than the original./ Répertoire / Trio avec Piano

For Violin, Cello And Piano. Par SILVESTROV VALENTIN. Cette composition est une étape importante et une interface dans les travaux du Silvestrov : c'est la fin de sa ' période d'avant-garde ' et le début de ce qu'il appelle plus tard ' metamusic '. la structure de le oeuvre est unique : le premier mouvement de la Sonate pour violon et Piano, peut également être effectué séparément. Le deuxième mouvement, Sonate pour violoncelle et Piano, est une sorte d'intermezzo lyrique. Il n'est pas jusqu'à la troisième mouvement, Trio, que les instruments vraiment jouent ensemble, amenant le drame à une extrémité' métaphysique. Le travail est caractérisé par une variété exceptionnelle de couleurs de ton, jouant les techniques et les systèmes tonales. La Ciaccona pour orchestre à cordes composée en 2005 à l’occasion du décès du Pape Jean Paul II constitue la pièce d’origine de cet arrangement. Le compositeur l’a reprise en tant qu’interlude instrumental dans son Requiem Polonais, un oratoire de grande envergure.
