Distance and Enchantment is a musical essay considering the strikingly common occurrence of people who disappear from home never to return. It takes the form of two meditations on traditional songs which are playedtogether without a break amounting to a single movement of about eleven minutes duration. The first song The Dark Eyed Gipsy tells of a woman who of her own accord leaves her home to roam the unknown world with a band ofgipsies; and the second A ghaoil lig dhachaigh gu m'mathair mi tells of a girl who wanders a little too far from home on a dark night and is stolen away by the fairies. The autograph of a composition always makes fascinating reading - and this is particularly true of Schubert's Trio in Eb major op. 100, as it underwent many changes during its composition. The manuscript, parts of which were greatly revised, bears eloquent witness to this and offers an opportunity to trace the intricacies of Schubert's phrasing and articulation. This source is in a private collection and our facsimile makes it accessible to the public for the very first time. It is, of course, in proven Henle quality, in lavish four-colour printing and with an extensive introductory text with in-depth information about the work. In a letter to his publisher in 1828, Schubert explicitly dedicated the work to 'no one, save those who find pleasure in it?. / Trio De Pianos

À l?époque classique et pendant une grande partie du 19e siècle les trios avec piano consti-tuaient pour ainsi dire des articles très tendance. Il n?est donc pas surprenant qu?après Haydn et Mozart Beethoven se soit lui aussi essayé à ce genre et ait laissé en tout 13 trios avec piano. Ce deuxième volume contient les deux trios avec piano op. 70 le trio op. 97 ainsi que les va-riations sur la chanson «Ich bin der Schneider Kakadu» op. 121a. Comme souvent le surnom de «Trio des esprits» du trio op. 70 no 1 ne lui a pas été attribué par Beethoven lui-même mais tient sans doute aux sonorités particulières un peu lugubres du mouvement lent. Le trio op. 97 est dit «del?archiduc» en référence à son dédicataire l?archiduc Rodolphe. Il s?agit certainement du trio avec piano de Beethoven le plus significatif mais aussi le plus long puisqu?il dure plus de 45 minutes. Bien que composé dès 1810/11 il ne fut publié qu?en 1816.

The score and parts for Judith Weir's O Viridissima scored for Violin Cello and Piano. The work lasts around 4 minutes and was written as a gift for the Late Music Concert Series being first performedon 6th June 2015 by the Albany Trio at St Saviourgate Unitarian Chapel in York. O Viridissima is a realisation/recomposition of Hildegard of Bingen's monodic hymn 'O ViridissimaVirga. Please note the score serves as the Piano part and there are separate Violin and Cello parts.

Par YE XIAOGANG. 'Datura was commissioned by Accessible Contemporary Music and was written in a unique way. I composed the piece in installments over the summer of 2006 and emailed them to Seth Boustead who forwarded them on to the ensemble. In this unique way of working I was able to have time between each installment to think about what would come next and to get feedback from the performers about the music. This is a very new and different way for a composer to work. Usually I write the piece in solitude and then hand it to the performers but writing in installments allows more communications between the performers and the composer and allows the audience to hear the piece as its created. Datura is another series of pieces composer written about Asian plants and flowers. Datura is a very common houseplant in south China and very beautiful but it can also be used as a hallucinogen, usually with unpleasant results. In this piece the composer juxtaposed the other beauty of the plant with the intense inner would it can create by using alternately tranquil and intense musical passages.'
