Im Schülerkreis um J. S. Bach nimmt Johann Ludwig Krebs eine Schlüsselposition ein. Als einer der begabtesten Eleven Bachs galt Krebs bereits zu Lebzeiten als außergewöhnlicher Komponist und Organist mit virtuosen Fähigkeiten. Beim Studium seines umfangreichen Orgelschaffens spürt man seine großen organistischen Fähigkeiten, die sich in einer virtuosen Finger- und Pedaltechnik äußern. Auf kompositorischem Gebiet begegnet uns Krebs als ein die kontrapunktischen Regeln perfekt beherrschender Künstler. Neben der perfekten Nachahmung seines Lehrmeisters Bach hatte sich Krebs auch den neuen galanten und empfindsamen Tendenzen seiner Zeit zugewandt. Er zeigte sich damit sehr aufgeschlossen gegenüber den zu seiner Zeit aufkommenden neuen musikalischen Strömungen, die in seinen Kompositionen eine besondere Rolle spielen. / Orgue

The pedal exercises at the beginning are rudimentary and should be practiced in all keys, gradually accelerating the tempo. The studies are graded according to their polyphony, beginning with simple two part exercises, followed by those in three and more parts. This acquaintance with the strict principles of polyphonic music, and the introduction to effective part writing, with a knowledge of harmonic form and architectonic values, provide the essential background for the correct performance of polyphonic music, especialle the fugue. The most important musical forms have been used to illustrate the various possibilites of registration and its relationship to style (colourful, individualistic and smooth playing). The studies are so arranged that earlier technical points, etc. are constantly reviewed, through comparison of style and form, in order to fix, or refreshen, the ideas in the student's mind. It is very important that the evolution of organ music from vocal music should be made clear to the student the very beginning, both musically and intellectually. He will be shown the technical evolution of organ music during the centuries and thus prepared for an artistic execution and interpretation of old and new words, especially for the incomparable art of our great Johann Sebastian Bach. Against the venture of making accessible to the organ piano compositions by Bartók one can, I admit, put forward not only the reasons which oppose any kind of transcript on whatsoever, but also those which have their origin in the imcompatibility of profane organ writing with the world of the organ. One must, however, not forget that all such transcriptions, no matter which way they go have suffered from the sam dilemma - and yet, they have fulfilled their purpose by helping to chose gaps in the repertory. The Orgelbüchlein Project is a collective composition project aiming to complete Bach's unfinished manuscript known as 'Orgelbüchlein'. In the 'Little Organ Book', Bach laid out a complete hymnal of short organ chorale, 164 in all, but only completed 46 of them. Why the remaining 118 were left as blank pages, with only a title at the head, remains a mystery, but they inspired organists William Whitehead to found the Orgelbüchlein Project, in which contemporary composers are invited to contribute a piece to completing the collection. The resulting collection, to be published in eight volumes, represents a cross-section of the most interesting composers at work today across Europe. Le compositeur et organiste Paul Siefert, baptisé à Gdansk le 28 juin 1586 et y mourut le 6 mai 1666, appartient à le 'école d'orgue allemande du Nord'. Grâce à une subvention du Conseil de la ville de Gdansk, Siefert a passé les années de 1607 à étudier probablement fin de 1610 à Amsterdam où il obtient les idées importantes et suggestions comme élève de Sweelinck. Après son retour, il devient adjoint organiste à Gdansk. De 1611 à 1616 il travaille comme organiste d'abord à l'église de la vieille ville de Königsberg, puis à l'orchestre de Cour de Varsovie. Le 23 septembre 1623, il est nommé organiste à la Marienkirche de Gdansk, dans la succession de Michael Weyda, où il a travaillé jusqu'à la fin de sa vie. Cette édition de ses oeuvres pour orgue contient 13 fantaisies, deux préludes chorals et un motet ainsi une description détaillée des travaux dans la préface, ainsi que dans le rapport critique. / Orgue

L'élève de Scheidemann, Johann Adam Reinken lui succède comme organiste à l'église de Sainte-Catherine, à Hambourg, à partir de 1663. Son jeu était d'une telle norme élevée que nul autre que j. s. Bach a voyagé de Lunebourg et Köthen à Hambourg pour entendre les Reinken à jouer de l'orgue. / Orgue

Dernière année de Mozart a été difficile, car son emploi était précaire, sa situation financière généralement assez désespérée, et son épouse Constanze fréquemment en mauvaise santé et à la station thermale de Baden, près de Vienne, pour des traitements. Sur une de ces occasions en Juin de 1791, Mozart lui a rendu visite et alors qu'il compose un hymne courte sacramentelle pour son ami Anton Stoll, organiste et maître de chapelle de l'église paroissiale de Baden. L'exquise Ave verum corpus (K.618) a été le premier morceau de musique sacrée qu'il avait écrit en plus de huit ans (et la dernière avant son Requiem inachevé), et s'est avéré être une de ses compositions les plus aimés. Arvo Pärts Spiegel im Spiegel illustrates his creative principles: above a permanent flow of chords on the piano, the cello unfolds acantilena in long note values, which grows out of succinct steps. This cantilena spins out sweeping, chorale-like arches and spreads itself out more and more.
