Opus 15. Par FAURE GABRIEL. Dans la foulée de sa Première sonate pour violon, Fauré composa, avec le Quatuor pour piano et cordes op. 15, une nouvelle grande ?uvre de musique de chambre. Cette pièce d?une fraîcheur toute juvénile rencontra lors de sa création en février 1880, un large assentiment. Peu de temps après, des amis émirent toutefois quelques réserves à l?encontre du dernier mouvement. Après un temps de réflexion de trois ans, Fauré élabora un tout nouveau Finale. Avec ce nouveau mouvement conclusif, l?Opus 15 trouva rapidement le chemin des salles de concerts; il est aujourd?hui considéré comme l?une des ?uvres de musique de chambre française les plus significatives et populaires du dix-neuvième siècle finissant. for string quartet. Par VASKS PETERIS. In 2013, Peteris Vasks set Mother Teresa’s peace prayer “The fruit of silence is prayer” for the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. The piece is for mixed choir however the versions for piano quintet and string quartet now make this musical expression of Mother Teresa's words accessible to two traditional genres of chamber music without the help of a choir. / Niveau : Intermédiaire / Répertoire / 2 Violons, Alto, Violoncelle et Piano

Piano Quintet in A major op. 81. Very few really important works have been written for piano quintet ? alongside the famous works by Schubert, Schumann und Brahms, the quintet that Antonín Dvorák composed in 1887 certainly numbers amongst them. It shows the mature master at work, who knew how to combine formal unity with melodic ingenuity and sweeping rhythms. With its ethnic-inspired themes the piano quintet has become one of Dvorák?s best-loved chamber music works, indeed even of Romantic literature in music. So it was high time for a Henle Urtext edition ? 60 years after the Czech Complete Edition was published, it was time for a fresh look at the sources, including the autograph in the National Museum in Prague.
