3 Original Pieces for Clarinet Quartet. Three works with quotations from well-known composers are contained in this tongue-in-cheek collection. Otto M. Schwarz has produced an outstanding recording of these works with members of the Slovak Philharmonic, which is available on all streaming and download platforms. 1. THE AMADEUS WATCH: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart?s own watch ? if he had one ? ticks away. The ticking carries us back in time with a piece that stylistically imitates the music of the 18th century in melody, harmony and rhythm. 2. COMPOSERS DINNER IN HEAVEN: At the music publisher De Haske, a composers? dinner was an integral part of trade fairs or meetings. The dinner was very popular among anyone who sat at it, not least of all because it offered one the opportunity to chat informally.? Based on such a meeting, Otto M. Schwarz has a composed a work that describes an imaginary dinner of great classical masters on a cloud in the sky. Guess which composers are present by the references in the form of musical quotations and stylistic devices! 3. SCHERZO FOR CLARINET QUARTET: The work, in 12/8 time, moves in a rapid furioso. Underscored by a continues eighth note rhythm, the work creates in the listener the sensation of a frantic rollercoaster ride. The theme moves throughout all the parts and, following a chromatically moving chord sequence, ends in a dramatic crescendo.

From light-hearted and tongue-in-cheek, through wild-romantic elements all the way to stylistic imitation and complex rhythmic passages, this work combines many different facets. 6 Original Pieces for Clarinet Quartet. And we?re off! Otto M. Schwarz takes us on a tour of his native Austria in this six-movement work. Passing by the great landmarks of this beautiful country we?re travelling by narrow-gauge railway, by car and finally by high-speed train. Fabled castles, famous gardens in Salzburg (the Mirabell Gardens) and Vienna or the Schloss Esterházy, the palace in Burgenland, where Joseph Haydn worked for many years, are just as important as the mode of transport. As the saying goes, the journey is its own reward.

Par ROZMAN ANZE. An?e Rozman's Waking of the Green Spring (Prebujanje zelene pomladi) draws together Impressionism and Minimalism as it paints an image of the titular spring erupting to life. The piece opens with the four flutes painting a mysterious running texture based in whole tones, swelling and fading in turns. The central slower section creates an almost reverent choral sound with large blocks of chords, building again into the opening textures but colored with more complex melodies and staccato runs. From The Planets-Jupiter Hymn est un arrangement délicieusement accessible du quatrième mouvement extrait du poème symphonique en sept mouvements The Planets (Les Planètes) de Gustave Holst : Jupiter the Bringer of Jollity (Jupiter celui qui apporte la gaieté). Holst s?inspira de notre système solaire lorsqu?il composa cette suite l?une de ses ?uvres les plus connues donnant à chacun des mouvements sa propre couleur. Holst écrivit Les Planètes au début du XXe siècle employant une certaine signature alors inhabituelle (mesures à 5/4) faisant appel à de nombreuses dissonances et une instrumentation atypique.
