Born in Jarrow, northeast England, in 1949, John Miles was something of a child prodigy, learning the piano from the age of five. In the early '60s he persuaded his father to buy him a guitar and by the end of the decade he had joined asemi-professional band, The Influence. The group soon disbanded and by 1969 Miles was recording with his own group, The John Miles Band, releasing a dozen singles in the early '70s. In 1975 Miles decided to move to London and secured a dealwith Decca Records. By October that year, a newly formed band, John Miles and Co, had released their debut single, Highfly, but their greatest hit, which stormed the British charts in March 1976, was Music.In 1976 bestormde het nummer Music van de band John Miles and Co de hitparades. In the seventies, Elvis Presley gave many concerts with an orchestra that included a large wind section. These concerts were characterised by enthusiasm and a fast tempo. Burning Love was one of the up-tempo numbers where the bass guitar player played an especially important role. Thus, this arrangement of Burning Love, written by Thijs Oud, brings a specific challenge for the musicians in the low register. The Build-A-Band Series provides educational and enjoyable music for bands with incomplete or unbalanced instrumentation. Written using just four or five parts (plus percussion), these effective arrangements will work with any combination of brass, woodwind, string and percussion instruments as long as you distribute the parts so that each of the five parts is covered. All of the publications in the Build-A-Band Series have been arranged to be playable with any instrumentation as long as each part is used: 1st Part, 2nd Part, 3rd Part, 4th Part, and Bass Part.
