In this seventh volume of Warlock’s Choral works there is a mixture of work. The Full Heart sets poetry of Warlock’s friend Robert Nicholas and is written for eight-part Chorus with a Soprano solo. A Cornish Christmas Carol is one of two Cornish carols Warlock wrote. This one is for Chorus SATB with SA divisi and a solo Soprano moment toward the end. Corpus Christi written in 1919 requires contrAlto solo and Tenor solo from the choir with an extremely demanding part for the contrAltos. The three dirges All the Flowers of Spring Call for the Robin Redbreast and The Wren and The Shrouding of the Duchess of Malfi were originally published as a set but are performedseparately. The first is for mixed Chorus SATB the second SSAA and the third TTBB with a first Tenor line of almost unequalled challenge.Composer writer and musical scholar Peter Warlock (Philip Heseltine) was active in the early decades of the twentieth century when he distinguished himself by his rediscovery and transcription of early English music his writing on Delius Gesualdo and other many other musicians and for his Choral works and songs among them the carol Bethlehem Down.

Music When Soft Voices Die is a major poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley written in 1821 and first published in Posthumous Poems of Percy Bysshe Shelley in 1824 in London. Matthew Martin's setting of Adam Lay Ybounden was first performed by the Choir of Westminster Cathedral at St. George's Hanover Sqaure London on December 19th 2006.  You can purchase the sheet music arranged for Mixed Voices and Piano Accompaniment released as part of the Faber Choral Signature Series.  Matthew Martin was educated at Magdalen College Oxford and at the Royal Academy of Music London. He subsequently held positions at New College Oxford and Canterbury Cathedral before moving to Westminster Cathedral as Assistant Master of Music in 2004. He is an active composer organ recitalist improviser and conductor. Recent commissions have come from The Cardinall's Musick Westminster Abbey Westminster Cathedral and St. Paul's Cathedral.

A Christmas Carol (Hungarian folksong)-The piece was written originally for equal voice choir in 1929. A mixed-choir adaptation was made in 1961 at the request of Oxford University Press. This appeared in print in the same year with an English text under the title A Christmas Carol in a collection of Christmas songs as well as in a separate print. The musical material of the mixed-choir version largely follows the original. There is one essential difference in verse 5 beginning at bar 35 (Babe all holy) where the tenor solo appears with a delightful eight-bar countermelody not found in the original. Since this version only appeared in Kodály's lifetime with an English text this has been retained but we havealso provided the original Hungarian text upon which the equal voice version is based. Zoltán Kodály's complete choral works for mixed voices were published in a new extended edition in 2018 (Z. 6725 and Z. 6725A). This volume containing 51 compositions has been edited by the renowned conductor Péter Erdei one of the most devoted interpreters of Kodály's choral works. The new edition takes into consideration the manuscript sources for the compositions housed in the Kodály Archives in Budapest. The publication features new easily-legible music scores edited on uniform principles. For better readability the new edition is printed in a slightly larger format than previous editions.The present publication is an offprint from the renewed edition of Kodály's complete choral works for mixed voices. It has the same format as the volume and has been printed on excellent-quality pale-yellow paper.
