Les groupes de notes serviront notamment ici à créer des breaks. Pour les rythmes, on s'intéressera à un autre concept, proche du précédent : la polyrythmie, qui est la superposition de 2 (ou plusieurs) rythmes dont les groupements de notes ne sont pas des multiples simples de l'un par rapport à l'autre. Concrètement, dans cet ouvrage, nous partirons du principe que la pulsation normale (4/4, 12/8, etc.), même si elle n'est pas forcément jouée, est un rythme, sur lequel on placera un second rythme, en l'occurrence le groupement de notes que l'on souhaite effectuer.
