En 1900, soit trois années après la publication des trois mélodies, La Flûte de Pan, La Chevelure et Le Tombeau des Naïades , Claude Debussy écrivit une musique de scène, peu connue de nos jours, pour accompagner les poèmes de Pierre Louys, Chansons de Bilitis . L'ensemble instrumental choisi pour cette occasion se composait de deux flûtes, deux harpes et un célesta. En 1913 il en reprit les principaux thèmes pour en faire Six épigraphes antiques pour piano à quatre mains. Il nous a semblé intéressant, et même naturel de proposer cette version des Six épigraphes antiques afin d'en restituer la couleur originale.Transcription de Georges Lambert et Yung Wha Lee.
