S. Bach les plus connues de la main de Busoni. Contrairement à la Chaconne que Busoni destina au concert, il transcrivit les Préludes de chorals en «style de chambre». Une grande partie de ce cosmos organo-pianistique convient aussi aux pianistes amateurs avancés. Nous publions pour la première fois la version de dernière main de Busoni en édition Urtext moderne, à laquelle s?ajoutent les précieux doigtés de Marc-André Hamelin. L?annexe contient en plus un onzième Prélude de choral, jamais publié auparavant: la tentative de Busoni de transcrire «Aus tiefer Not». L?influence de Johann Christian Bach se reflète encore dans le Concerto en Mib majeur, composé en 1784.

La partition d?orchestre de l?oeuvre n?est pas conservée, il ne reste qu?une copie de la partie de piano remaniée par Beethoven. Celle-ci contient la partie de soliste sans accompagnement, sauf aux endroits où le soliste s?arrête et estrelayé par l?orchestre.
