Ce recueil contient une sélection de mélodies composées par Gjovalin Nonaj, typiques de la musique folklorique des Balkans, adaptées pour l'accordéon. Cette musique se caractérise par la richesse de ses variations mélodiques, en ce sens, elle se différencie de la plupart des styles de musiques occidentales. Énergie, nostalgie, mélodie et sens du rythme... contribuent à former une sonorité complexe, polymorphe. De nombreuses mélodies sont écrites dans des rythmes différents et irréguliers : on trouve beaucoup de mesures à 5/8, 7/8 , 9/8... avec des subdivisions très variées. L'accordéon s'est imposé devant les autres instruments traditionnels d'Albanie, notamment les instruments à cordes comme le lahuta (1 corde), le çifteli (2 cordes), le sharki (6 cordes).
