Drones And Piano was commissioned by the 2010 Gilmore International Keyboard Festival for pianist Bruce Brubaker. The piece involves staccato stabs dynamic discords and an innovative beauty that always shines through. The work was composed for Drones And Piano meaning that each movement begins with a pre-recorded drone that underlies the rest of the movement. Three Études for Piano by Nico Muhly. “In preparation for writing a large (uncompleted) work for piano I decided to write three short pieces to get certain musical tics out of my system. Each of these three études addresses a specific rhythmic and harmonic gesture: the first Ostinati focuses on a gently lilting left hand contrasted with angular outbursts in the right hand usually in octaves. The second étude “Quiet Music ” concerns itself with drones and chant-like music and the third “Running ” explores slowly shifting harmonies pitted against very fast cross-hand playing.” –Nico Muhly 2003 These three études were written from January to March 2003 and were composed partially for performance in the VisionIntoArt/RockHotelPianoFest in New York City. Étude #3 (“Running”) was premiered by Eric Huebner and is dedicated to him.

'This tiny piece was written as a response to hearing the premiere of Nicola LeFanu's momentous orchestral work The Crimson Bird on 17 February 2017. Nicola was my teacher and supervisor from 1986 to 1989 during my studies at King's College London. Although my formal study with her lasted just these three years her influence on my creative life has been immense and invaluable and continues to be felt in every piece I write. Luna ... is marked 'A starlit lullaby'. Its final notes E and F supply the letters of Nicola's surname missing from the title. The work was recorded by Philippa Harrison on Return of the Nightingales-Music for solo piano (Prima Facie2017).' - Sadie Harrison

Nuestro libro quiere hacerle descubrir trabajar y sobre todo tocar los arpegios en el piano. Los arpegios presentes en todos los estilos musicales (blues rock jazz clásico...) tanto en acompañamiento como en improvisación tocados con la mano derecha o la mano izquierda resultan desde el punto de vista técnico y armónico imprescindibles para el pianista. Y por eso todos los estudiantes teclistas los han de conocer y dominar. Nuestro libro trata de los principales arpegios que son el arpegio mayor el arpegio menor el arpegio mayor 7 (may7) el arpegio menor 7 (m7) y por último el arpegio de séptima (7). Paracada uno de ellos descubrirá su composición por supuesto pero también sus digitaciones con tres ejercicios técnicos (para aprender a «manipularlos») y siete aplicaciones musicales (acompañamiento o solo) para tocar en playback. Y para cada aplicación musical le brindamos cinco grabaciones diferentes en el CD MP3 adjunto presentadas de la manera siguiente: piano solo en aire normal y luego más lento la misma parte de piano tocada ahora en el playback y por último el playback solo primero en aire normal y luego más lento... para que cada uno pueda aprender y tocar a su ritmo según su nivel y sus capacidades. O sea más de 5 horas de música en total.
