Par DVORAK ANTONIN. On 18 January 1887 Antonín Dvorák (1841–1904) started composing his Romantic Pieces for violin and piano, opus 75 (B 150), completing that version on 25 January. They were performed for the first time in a private house two days later, with the composer writing to his publisher in Berlin: ‘Played here yesterday and very well received.’ For this edition reference has been made to a copy of the original manuscript and to the first edition. The small number of bow markings in the violin part of the piano score are original and have been left unaltered. These four contrasting movements are a welcome addition to the violin repertoire and a very effective alternative to Dvorák’s large-scale violin works, the Concerto in A minor and Romance in F minor. / Niveau : Avancé / Répertoire / Violon et Piano

Dvorák, Antonín Concerto for Violin and Orchestra A minor op. 53 Edition no. BA 10422-90 ISMN 9790260107687 Editor Cividini, Iacopo Dvorák?s Violin Concerto was composed between 1879 and 1882, with the active assistance of Joseph Joachim, and was issued by the publisher Fritz Simrock, Berlin in 1883. Its premiere took place in October of that same year with Franti?ek Ondrícek as soloist. This new Urtext edition is based on the first edition (score, solo violin part, piano reduction and orchestral parts). It also takes Dvorák?s autograph which served as a master copy for the engraving into consideration. Sonatina In G Major for Violin and Piano was written during a period of relaxed creativity and family contentment. Dvorak wrote it in America at the end of 1893 and dedicated it to his children who were both attending the National Conservatory in New York where the composer acted as director. His daughter Otylie later the wife of Josef Suk and his 10-year-old son Antonin also premiered the work at a family concert.The purpose for which it was intended is reflected in the simplicity and clarity of musical ideas and the relatively straightforward technical demands of the piece.This title is part of the first CompleteCritical Edition of Works by Antonin Dvorak.
