Fort Fincastle was built in 1793 by royal governor 'Lord Dunmore at an unusual location: Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas. The name of the fort: Fort Fincastle' comes from Dunmore's second title of Viscount Fincastle '( Earl of Fincastle). He gave the fort a particular shape, a circular building with a sharp expansion in the form of a bow or bow of ship. In order to deceive enemy ships. De klanken van de eerstematen laten de contouren van een majestueus verdedigingsbolwerk opdoemen, waarna een heldhaftig thema volgt. Al snel horen we de dreiging van vijandige elementen . Werken op het fort betekent veel wachten en is best eenzaam,toch moet je altijd alert en waakzaam zijn voor de immer op de loer liggende aanval. Na het afslaan van de zoveelste aanval heerst er een gevoel van tevredenheid en zien we het fort trots liggen op de heuvel die bovenNassau uit torent.

Mit gregorianischen Reminiszenzen und einem mittelalterlichen Tanz wird jedoch auch auf noch altere Musik zuruckgegriffen: Grundlage dieses grossartigen Werkes sind wahrlich alte Zeiten (ancient times), die Tonsprache hingegen ist vorwiegend modern.

Let Me Weep (‘Lascia ch’io pianga’) is an aria from Handel’s opera ‘Rinaldo’. According to reports he composed the music for the complete opera in just 14 days, using many melodies from earlier works. The melody of this wonderful aria is known all over the world and this arrangement by Jacob de Haan retains all the passion of the original. Lascia ch’io pianga (Let Me Weep) is een aria uit de opera Rinaldo. Aaron Hill schreef het scenario, waarna Giacomo Rossi de poëtische teksten schreef. Georg Friedrich Händel voorzag deze later van muziek. Hij zou demuziek in veertien dagen hebben gecomponeerd en veel melodieën uit eerdere werken hebben gebruikt. In 1711 werd Rinaldo voor het eerst uitgevoerd. De melodie van deze prachtige aria is wereldwijd bekend en komt uitstekendtot haar recht in dit arrangement van Jacob de Haan.Let Me Weep - im Original Laschia ch’io pianga - stammt aus der Oper Rinaldo, deren Musik Georg Friedrich Händel angeblich in weniger als vierzehn Tagen geschrieben hat! Er verwendete für diese märchenhafte Oper viele Melodien aus älteren Werken. Die Melodie dieser prächtigen Arie ist weltweit bekannt und beliebt - so ist mit Jacob de Haans hervorragender Bearbeitung für Brass Band ein Publikumserfolg garantiert! Lascia ch’io pianga est un air extrait de Rinaldo, premier opéra londonien de Georg Friedrich Haendel sur un livret de Giacomo Rossi d’après un scénario d’Aaron Hill. Quinze jours de travail suffirent Haendel pour achever la partition. Le résultat est en réalité une vaste adaptation de plusieurs œuvres antérieures. Rinaldo a été créé Londres en 1711. Les décors féeriques et chevaleresques étaient éblouissants pour l’époque, et c’est sans doute pour cela que l’œuvre fut plébiscitée par le public.Dans le merveilleux jardin du palais enchanté d’Armide (l’alliée d’Argante, le rival de Rinaldo), Almirène (la promise de Rinaldo) pleure sa captivité dansson air Lascia ch’io pianga, l’un des plus beaux qu’Haendel ait écrits. Cette sublime mélodie, célèbre dans le monde entier, a été arrangée avec finesse et justesse par Jacob de Haan.

From the first bars the stately character of this solemn, yet celebratory, march is clearly heard. The introduction of the main theme takes place in the medium register, immediately resulting in a noble tone. A lyrical trio melody provides contrast, but the march closes in a festive and imposing mood. A march worthy of any concert program. De Belgische gemeente Heist-op-den Berg (gelegen in de Zuiderkempen) bestond in 2008 maar liefst duizend jaar; reden genoeg om een feestmars te laten schrijven die uitvoerbaar zou zijn door alle twaalf muziekverenigingen van de gemeente. Het resultaat is een goed speelbare en feestelijke mars - een millenniumwerk waardig. Die belgische Gemeinde Heist-op-den-Berg feierte im Jahr 2008 ihr mindestens tausendjahriges Bestehen; Grund genug, einen festlichen Marsch fur diesen Ort in Auftrag zu geben, den jeder der sage und schreibe zwolf lokalen Musikvereine spielen konnen sollte. Das Ergebnis ist ein gut spielbarer prachtvoller Marsch, wie er einem Jahrtausendjubilaum gebuhrt, der jedem grossen Anlass gerecht wird. Des les premieres mesures, le caractere majestueux de cette marche solennelle mais festive est entendu de toute evidence. The Austrian composer Franz Schubert wrote his famous song The Trout (D550) in 1817. This song reappeared as the basis of a set of variations for the fourth movement of the renowned Trout Quintet, so-named as a reference to the title of the song. Robert van Beringen used the lively theme for The Trout Fantasy, which he has written for a five-part brass ensemble.The instrumentation means that this piece can be performed in various combinations: trumpet 1 and 2 in B flat, horn in F (or horn in E flat), trombone (or euphonium) and tuba (or trombone, euphonium, tuba in E flat).In 1817 schreef de Oostenrijkse componist Franz Schubert het bekende lied Die Forelle (opus 32). Hij hergebruikte het in 1819 voor het vierde deel van zijn beroemde Forellenkwintet, waarvan de titel op het lied is gebaseerd. Robert van Beringen gebruikte het levendige thema voor The Trout Fantasy, een stuk voor vijfstemmig koperensemble.De instrumentatie is zodanig dat het werk in verschillende combinaties van instrumenten kan worden uitgevoerd.
