Dieses Singspiel zu biblischen Texten ist für den gemeinsamen Gottesdienst von Kindern und Erwachsenen gedacht, aber auch für die verschiedensten Anlässe gemeinsamen Singens und Spielens; ihr Mitmachcharakter lässt die Grenzen zwischen Jung und Altdurchlässig werden. Durch Passion und Ostern führt dieses Werk das aus dem Markusevangelium (Mk 5, 21-43) bekannte Töchterlein des Synagogenvorstehers Jairus. Das Mädchen ist die Leitgestalt in einer erdachten Fortsetzung des biblischen Berichtes. Sie will ihren Retterkennen lernen und ihm danken. Aber sie gerät in das Karfreitagsgeschehen hinein. Eine Menschenmenge wogt durch die Stadt, nicht, wie das Mädchen zunächst meint, um Jesus, dem Wundertäter, zu begegnen, sondern auf dem Weg zu seiner Hinrichtung. DasMädchen will ihn verteidigen, doch sie wird von der Menge mitgerissen, der Schrei 'Kreuzige ihn!' wird immer lauter, der Gesang des Mädchens immer erschrockener. Nach dem letzten, grellen 'Kreuzige ihn!' tritt plötzlich Stille ein. Während des Gemeindeliedes 'Herzliebster Jesu, was hast du verbrochen?' wird ein Kreuz im Hintergrund aufgestellt. Im Vordergrund kann das Felsengrab angedeutet werden. Über dem frühen Ostermorgen, an dem die Frauen zum Grabe gehen, liegt die Stilleeines Friedhofes, die sich auch im Klagelied der Frauen widerspiegelt. Sie wird unterbrochen vom Ruf der Engel 'Jesus lebt!', der später dann im Schlusslied als tragendes Motiv erklingt. Der Gesang der Engel und der Frauen wird vom Chor unterstützt.
