Cette série présente pour la première fois la Revue-Opern complete, une collection de 38 fantasmes pour guitare solo qui comprennent certains des thèmes d'opéra plus aimés du monde. Habilement arrangé par le guitariste virtuose et compositeur j. k. Mertz, Opern-Revue représente une des collections plus large du genre du XIXe siècle. La présente édition fournit des reproductions fac-similé de l'original Haslinger premières éditions, ce qui permet du guitariste accès direct aux partitions publiées dans le temps du Mertz. Opern-Revue fournit le guitariste modern avec un vaste répertoire de oeuvres de concert basé sur la musique de Bellini, Donizetti, Giuseppe Verdi, Weber, Giacomo Meyerbeer, Rossini et beaucoup d'autres. Wagner et Offenbach, deux compositeurs moins fréquent dans la musique de guitare du XIXe siècle, sont représentées dans les arrangements par plusieurs des successeurs de Mertz. Mertz mobile der Oper : Der prophète (Meyerbeer), opus 32 depuis sa publication originale en 1851. Le travail est un charmant de la sélection des thèmes de l'opéra de Giacomo Meyerbeer Le prophète habilement arrangé pour violon ou flûte, alto et guitare. C'est de difficulté modérée et représente de Mertz seulement connue des travaux existant pour l'instrumentation. La présente édition comprend des biographies de Mertz et Meyerbeer, suggestions concernant la pratique de la performance et un télécopieur et une édition urtext de ce travail de chambre longtemps out-of-print. / Guitare Classique

Par BARTOK BELA. Like so many famous virtuosic works, Bartók’s Sonata for Solo Violin was said, by its commissioner, Yehudi Menuhin, at first sight, to be unplayable! Of course, Menuhin soon changed his opinion, later describing the work as the most important composition for solo violin since Bach. The original work used the full array of violin techniques such as stopped harmonics, left-hand pizzicato and quarter tones. These demands gave arranger, Christophe Dejour, much pause for thought when preparing this arrangement, not least in how to produce quarter tones on the guitar! Fortunately, both Bartók and Menuhin came to his rescue here. Menuhin had had problems playing these at speed and Bartók agreed that they were only for “colour” and accepted an alternative version Menuhin presented to him. The Sonata also contains several compositional techniques that are highly appropriate for the guitar such as chord progressions, contrapuntal motion and rhythmic sharpness, allowing Dejour to produce an arrangement that requires great skill to play, just as the original violin version demanded of Yehudi Menuhin./ Répertoire / Guitare

Born in the Italian city of Naples Giuseppe Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757) was one of the few Baroque composers to transition into the Classical period. Scarlatti composed operas cantatas symphonias andliturgical pieces but his 555 keyboard sonatas are most well-known; a vast collection of single movements in binary form. Lily Afshar's arrangement of Sonata K. 11 (a favorite of Segovia) utilizes staccato articulationreminiscent of the harpsichord and othertechniques including cross-string trills and minimal slurs. The pair of sonatas work well together written in E minor and E major.Sylvius Leopold Weiss (1687-1750) wasthe most accomplished Lutenist of the Baroque period and the most prolific composer of Lute music writing over one thousand pieces for the instrument. The four pieces arranged in this book show the beautiful polyphony andfantastical writing of Weiss. Afshar utilizes campanella (cross-string) fingerings throughout to emphasize the musical line and produce a fuller sound on the instrument.
