Le roumain pianiste et compositeur Violeta Dinescu est né à Bucarest le 13 juillet 1953. Là, elle étudie la composition, de piano et de l'enseignement du Conservatoire de c. Porumbescu et en 1977, passé son examen d'Etat avec distinction. Après une affectation d'enseignement à l'école de musique de George Enescu, elle s'installe en Allemagne en 1982. Depuis 1996, elle est professeur de composition appliquée à l'Université d'Oldenbourg.
