Ce travail est impressionnante structuré avec son bruit de chaîne sonore, à certains moments, la musique est tout à fait spectaculaire, il montre les aspects de la période romantique tardive, tout en étant modérément moderne. Cette pièce fait de grandes exigences sur les compétences rythmiques de joueurs et le conducteur aussi bien. In G Major. Par DVORAK ANTONIN. The performance material available up till now for Dvorák’s sun-filled cheerful Symphony No. 8 has been notorious for its myriad mistakes. The challenge of correcting it has now been taken over by the editor Jonathan Del Mar. He has taken into account the engraver’s copy, which was actually discovered in a rubbish bin at Novello’s in 1964. Its title page bears the words “Copied from my original manuscript” in Dvorák’s hand. This source proves that many of the readings contained in the first edition and faithfully adopted in all subsequent editions, were simply slips of the copyist’s pen. This new edition with score and orchestral parts in an enlarged format is accompanied bya detailed Critical Commentary on the sources and alternative readings. Une composition contemporaine par Frank Michael ajoute à la série traditionnelle ad Gradus Symphoniam pour les orchestres scolaires et orchestres amateurs. 'Pendant longtemps, déjà, j'avais joué avec l'idée de convertir une danse pour le piano en date du 1969 dans une version orchestrale. Dès le début, j'ai considéré la possibilité d'effectuer avec des orchestres amateurs.' Michael a ajouté 4 pièces plus courtes à cette danse (Introduzione, Elegie, Bicinium, Kanon). Malgré leur simplicité, ces pièces sont assez raffiné dans le détail.
