Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) wrote Capriccio Brillant, Op. 22 during his second vist to England. This charming example of Mendelssohn's writing for piano has two movements: an Andante with a gentle, reflective melody and an Allegro con fuoco that shatters the previous languid mood with a cascade of arpeggios that leads into a march-like principal theme. The solo piano part never lapses into dazzling technique for its own sake. It premiered in London by the Philharmonic Society on May 25th, 1832. Instrumentation: 2.2.2.2: 2.2.0.0: Timp: Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set): Solo Piano.

So kommen nun All You Need Is Love und With a Little Help from My Friends als Swing-Märsche einher; Michelle klingt fast wie eine völlig neu komponierte Ballade, während When I'm Sixty Four im Dixie Swing-Stil gespielt wird. A Hard Day's Night wurde in ein Funk-Thema mit einem Samba-Zwischenspiel verwandelt, Let It Be in einen langsamen Marsch und Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da schließlich in einen Rock Beat. Einfach brillant!A Hard Day's Night • All You Need is Love • Let It Be • Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da • When I am Sixty Four • With A Little Help From My Friends • MichelleLa musique des Beatles reste toujours aussi neuve et riche, et symbolise plus que jamais l'insouciance et la créativité des sixties.

Sarasate's concert career began at age seventeen after he was awarded the coveted Premier Prix from the Paris Conservatoire for both violin and composition. After his London debut, the playwright and music critique George Bernard Shaw wrote in his review that Sarasate 'left criticism gasping miles behind him.' Shaw also declared that there were many composers of music for the violin; there were but few composers like Sarasate for violin music. His vast concert repertory included many works written for and dedicated to him by Bruch, Saint-Saens, Wieniawski, Dvorak and many others. He performed his own works in an inimitable, brilliant and charming manner. His contemporaries marveled at his perfect intonation and stunning rhythmic acuity. His bowing technique was the pride of the French School of violin playing. The works presented in this volume are among his finest. All are based on Spanish popular music and are a virtuosic set for violin and piano. They are and have been in virtually every great violinist's repertory. They are also exceptionally popular as encore pieces, as well as favorites of budding virtuosos.

There have been many arrangements of Beatles’ songs for various kinds of ensembles, so rather than just producing a further medley of Beatles’ hits, Peter Kleine Schaars has added a new twist to them with this excellent new work. All You Need Is Love and With a Little Help from my Friends pass by in a swing march, Michelle sounds like a newly composed ballad and When I’m Sixty Four is played in Dixie swing style. A Hard Day’s Night is transformed into a funk theme with a samba interlude, Let It Be into a slow march, and Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da in a rock beat. In Dublin Dances Jan Van der Roost has combined three well-known traditional Irish melodies to form an attractive medley. The medley contains Brian Boru’s March, a melody made popular by worldfamous flautist James Galway, followed bythe atmospheric tune The Minstrel Man and, as a cheerful finale, The Irish Washerwoman. Add a little magic from the Emerald Isle to your concert with this rousing medley.
