André Jolivet (1905-1974) established his love for composition from a young age. This remained throughout his life and he held the post of Professor of Composition from 1966-1970 at the Paris Conservatoire. Fantaisie Impromptu for Alto Saxophone and Piano was published in 1953 and remains highly regarded. Jolivet himself a cellist wished to explore composition for all instruments and therefore has a considerable number of works in all fields. Famous Pieces By G. F. Handel For Eb Alto Saxophone And Piano – Vol. 2 is an anthology of four pieces arranged for Alto Saxophone and Piano by Marcel Mule. This second book features four sonatas all composed initially by G. F. Handel and part of the collection “Saxophone Classics” by Mule. - First sonata: Flute and Piano - Second sonata: Violin and Piano - Fourth sonata: Flute and Piano - Sixth sonata: Violin and Piano  Each sonata should be played separately and their level of difficulty is quite challenging which would match the abilities ofupper intermediate / advanced players who have mastered their breathing. Marcel Mule (1901-2001) is one of the greatest French saxophonists renowned worldwide for his work on the classical Saxophone repertoire. He was teaching his students how to obtain a good quality of sound and believed it was dependent on the embouchure the emission the mastery of vibrato and thus of breathing. He wrote different methods that focus on technique articulation and tone productions such as 'Dix-huit Exercices ou Études' 'Exercices Journaliers d’après Terschack' or '30 Grands Exercices ou Études d’après Soussmann' (in two books) among others.

Concertino Da Camera written in 1935 by Jacques Ibert (1890-1962) was a small concerto for alto-saxophone and eleven instruments: Flute Bassoon Oboe Horn Trumpet and Strings. This score is for Alto Saxophone and Piano. This Concertino is in two movements Allegro con moto and Larghetto – Animato Molto is dedicated to the saxophonist Sigurd Rascher and is standing out for its large use of the Alto-Saxophone. It can be technically challenging and has a strong lyrical part. Its author Jacques Ibert (1890-1962) is a neoclassical composer who won the Prix de Rome in 1919. He composed manysymphonic suites operas and seven orchestras including Angelique (1926) and Divertissement (1930). He was also in charge of the Accadémie de France in the Villa Médicis (Roma) and was later administrator for the Paris Opera. This concerto has some similarities with his Flute Concerto (1934) also published by Alphonse Leduc.

Saxophone and String Orchestra-As a musical genre of the 18th century it is unusual that a divertimento is composed for the Alto Saxophone an instrument which was not developed until the mid-19th Century. Yet Roger Boutry (b. 1932) proves with his Divertimento for Alto Saxophone that the combination of style and instrument make for a thrilling performance. French composer Boutry won many prizes during his time at the Paris Conservatoire as well as for his professional work. He has over 100 published works in which he successfully unites diverse modern and traditional trends. He was named Personality of the Year in 1989 for all of his artisticactivities. Divertimento is cast in three movements beginning in a highly rhythmic and syncopated way before moving on to a moody and balladlike second movement that ends with a cadenza. This leads into the third movement a light presto finale. Boutry's Divertimento for Alto Saxophone and Piano accompaniment is an essential and varied addition to the advanced saxophonist's repertoire.

Aria by Eugène Bozza (1905-1991) is a lyrical piece written in 1936 for advanced Alto Saxophone players. Technically and musically challenging being able to master vibrato and control your instrument well will be greatly beneficial to effective playing of this piece. Dedicated to the famous French Saxophonist Marcel Mule Aria required from the player a good mastery of breathing as there are few rests and this also suggests that the intonation should be applied carefully as well. A relaxed piece that's very popular among players this piece is representative of Bozza's inimitable romantic style and is thoroughlyenjoyable. Eugène Bozza won different prizes at the Conservatoire de Paris such as the First Prizes for the Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. Canzonetta Op. 19 is a piece for Alto Saxophone and Piano accompaniment composed by Gabriel Pierné and arranged by Marcel Mule. Initially written for Clarinet and Piano the piece was written in 1888 and can be played by advanced players with a fairly high difficulty level. Composed in a single movement the piece features some different sections linked together. It starts with dotted rhythms that are slightly reminiscent of a siciliano and is followed by a part that sounds like a Scherzando. The dotted rhythms disappear in the Piu Vivo section but the opening theme soon comes back before a grandiose finale.Gabriel Pierné (1863-1937) was a French composer conductor and Organ player. He won the French Prix de Rome 1882.
