Ce cahier a pour but de replacer les traits d'orchestre dans leur contexte musical. Il permet de préparer les passages difficiles que nous pouvons rencontrer à l'orchestre ou lors de concours et ainsi d'avoir une meilleure connaissance de ce qui les environne. Connaître et s'approprier ce contexte permet d'intégrer et de travailler ces passages de manière plus approfondie et ainsi de les maîtriser avec plus d'aisance.
Par ailleurs, on peut aussi voir ces partitions comme des pièces à part entière et les proposer dans un programme de concert ou comme un travail d'étude du répertoire avec de grands élèves.
Ce cahier est essentiellement axé sur des passages que l'on pourra qualifier de virtuoses dans le répertoire orchestral du basson, et permet ainsi d'associer un travail technique à un travail musical.

To this day Eugène Bozza (1905-1991) remains one of the most prolific composers for wind instruments despite being a violinist himself. His 15 Daily Studies for Bassoon will enable the pupil to attain brilliant technique on the instrument. During his studies at the Paris Conservatoire Bozza won prizes for Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He then conducted the orchestra of the Opéra-Comique and became Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes whilst remaining a prominent composer. Composed in 1922 the Deux Mouvements - MCMXXII is a piece for two Flutes or Flute and Oboe Clarinet and Bassoon by Jacques Ibert. Dedicated to the “Modern Society of Wind instruments” this quartet is difficult and is composed of two movements: “Allant” and “Assez vif et rythmĂ©”. This really lyrical quartet work is a great piece to play for a concert. Jacques Ibert (1890-1962) also composed many symphonic suites operas and seven orchestras including 'Angelique' (1926) and 'Divertissement' (1930). He also was in charge of the AccadĂ©mie deFrance in the Villa MĂ©dicis (Roma) and was later administrator for the Paris Opera.
