In Lord Tullamore setzte Carl Wittrock seine eigene Vorstellung irischer Volksmusik um. The song Bist du bei mir, geh' ich mit Freuden zum Sterben und zu meiner Ruh' (BWV 508) was composed by Johann Sebastian Bach for his second wife Anna Magdalena (1701-1760), who he married in 1721. The unparalleled popularity of this song is probably due to the magnificent, sensitive melody that wonderfully fits the anonymous text, in which a loved one is told that even death is beautiful as long as you are there with me. Jacob de Haan has produced this beautiful arrangement for brass band, which is suitable for many occasions.

Het lied Bist du bei mir, geh’ ich mit freuden zum Sterben und zu meiner Ruh (BWV 508) werd gecomponeerd door Johann Sebastian Bach voor zijn tweede vrouw Anna Magdalena (1701-1760), met wie hij in 1721 trouwde. Dit lied dankt zijnonge?venaarde populariteit waarschijnlijk aan de schitterende, gevoelige melodie die prachtig aansluit bij de tekst, waarin een geliefde te horen krijgt dat zelfs de dood mooi is ‘zolang jij bij me bent’. Dit prachtige arrangementvoor blaasorkest, geschreven door Jacob de Haan, is geschikt voor vele gelegenheden.

Bist du bei mir schrieb Johann Sebastian Bach für seine zweite Frau Anna Magdalena. Die Melodie passt vorzüglich zum Text eines unbekannten Dichters, der besagt, dass selbst der Tod keinen Schrecken mehr birgt, solange nur der geliebte Mensch da ist. Jacob de Haan schuf aus der beliebten, besinnlichen Melodie eine gefühlvolle Bearbeitung für Blasorchester.

En 1721, Jean-Sébastien Bach épouse en secondes noces Anna Magdalena Wilcken (1701-1760). Il lui dédie l’air Bist du bei mir BWV 508. Le texte a été écrit par un poète anonyme. La notoriété de cet air reste inégalable par la sublime tendresse de la mélodie qui évolue en parfaite harmonie avec un texte puissant dans lequel le poète nous livre une belle vision de l’amour : tant que l’être aimé est auprès de nous, même la mort est douce. Jacob de Haan a réalisé ce superbe arrangement pour Brass Band.

Nel 1721 Johann Sebastian Bach sposa in seconde nozze Anna Magdalena Wilcken. Le dedica l’aria Bist du bei mir BWV 508. La notoriet di questa aria è ineguagliabile per la sua tenerezza che si evolve in perfetta armonia con un testo potente nel quale il poeta ci regala una bella visione dell’amore. Jacob de Haan ha realizzato un superlativo arrangiamento per banda, adatto a tutte le occasioni.

In The Essence of Youth the composer gives an insight into childhood and youth — inspired by his own daughter. The opening of sparking rhythms, dynamic contrasts and changes of time signature paint a vivid picture of the unpredictability of children. The first and second movements recount the love — and also tension and the worries — in the adult-child bond, through dissonant harmonies but also pretty melodies. The fugue-like ending leads to a final splendid chorale: a picture of proud parents with their child!

In The Essence of Youth geeft de componist zijn visie op de kindertijd en de jeugd. Zijn eigen dochter vormde hierbij een belangrijke inspiratiebron. De opening staat met opgewekte ritmes, dynamische contrasten en maatsoortwisselingen voor de spontaniteit van kinderen. Het eerste en tweede deel vertellen over de liefde, zorg en toewijding die horen bij een ouder-kindrelatie. Met dissonante harmonieën, maar ook met mooie melodieën weet de componist dit prachtig te verbeelden. Een fuga leidt ten slotte naar een prachtig koraal: de trotse ouders met hun kind verbeeldend.

Die Eröffnung steht mit aufgeweckten Rhythmen, dynamischen Kontrasten, Taktartwechseln fu r die Unberechenbarkeit von Kindern. Der erste und zweite Satz erzählen mit dissonanten Harmonien, aber auch mit schönen Melodien von Spannungen, Liebe und Sorge in der Eltern-Kind-Beziehung. Den Schluss bildet eine Fuge, die zu einem prachtvollen Choral fu hrt: ein Bild stolzer Eltern mit ihrem Kind!

Cette composition reflète ce que le compositeur considère comme les caractéristiques typiques de la jeunesse : une mélodie éclatante pleine de rythmes vifs, des contrastes dynamiques et des changements de tempi qui se combinent pour symboliser l’énergie débordante des enfants, ainsi que la tension entre parents et enfant. Un passage lyrique exprime l’amour parental par des lignes mélodiques très subtiles. Les notes s’égrènent, le charme opère !

The Essence of Youth è un brano che riflette ciò che il compositore, ispirato da sua figlia, considera come le caratteristiche tipiche della gioventù. Un’ouverture spettacolare nella quale contrasti dinamici e dai ritmi vivaci si susseguono come a simboleggiare la straordinaria energia dei bambini. Il primo movimento, sulla scia dell’introduzione, anticipa una parte di solo che accompagna al secondo movimento, testimonianza dell’amore infinito dei genitori nei confronti dei figli. Una fuga basata sul tema iniziale contraddistingue il terzo movimento che conduce all’apoteosi finale.

Everybody is familiar with the zoo. Remember all those animals? Big ones, small ones. Water dwellers, air-bound birds, long legged hoppers, creeping bugs. All animals seem to have their own peculiarities.
Now, Carl Wittrock (who also composed the world-famous master piece 'Lord Tullamore') invites you to join him in a musical exploration of the animal kingdom.
An invitation you must not reject! In his 'A view at the Zoo', Wittrock presents ten distinctly different animals as compositions of music. You may be familiar with some of those animals, such as the white swan or the butterfly, but there are also more exotic breeds, like the lion, the monkey, or theelephant.

The composition as a whole is built around a structure of shorter fragments reminiscent of 'The Paintings Exhibition' by Moussorgsky. The parts are decorated with recognizable illustrations of the different animals. At each composition, Wittrock looks for something that can fascinate both musicians and listeners. In this he succeeded extremely well.

De dierentuin. iedereen is er wel eens geweest! Al die verschillende dieren, groot en klein, gevaarlijk en ongevaarlijk, in het water, in de lucht of gewoon op het droge, en allemaal met hun eigen bijzonderheden.
Carl Wittrock(componist van o.a. het wereldberoemde ‘Lord Tullamore’) neemt je in ‘A View at the Zoo’ mee op een muzikale ontdekkingstocht door het dierenrijk die je absoluut niet mag missen.
In totaal komen we gedurende deze wandeling10 compleet verschillende dieren tegen. Naast de dieren die je niet zomaar op straat tegenkomt, zoals de leeuw, de aap en de olifant, is er ook aandacht voor dieren waar we misschien al iets beter bekend mee zijn, zoals de zwaanen de vlinder.

De compositie bestaat uit korte deeltjes die qua opzet doen denken aan ‘De Schilderijententoonstelling’ van Moussorgsky. De partijen zijn versierd met herkenbare illustraties van de verschillende dieren.Wittrock zoekt bij elke compositie naar iets wat zowel de musici als de luisteraars kan boeien en dat is bijzonder goed gelukt!

As he did before in the often played and commonly appreciated ‘Lord Tullamore’, in which he poetically depicted the landscape and the cultural elements of a small Irish village, in his composition ‘The Road to the West’ Carl Wittrock has sketched pioneer existence in America in a cinematic manner.
In ‘The Road to the West’ the composer has tried to capture images of pioneer life during the period dating from 1850 to 1890, the days of the so-called Wild West.
In those days, the Wild West used to be the territory west of civilization, the domain of cowboys, trappers, and other fortune hunters.
In short, ample ingredients for a captivating story.

In the firstscene a lonely adventurer struggles against nature and the elements.
After an exciting adventure he passes through ‘the Plains’, where majestic views alternated by colossal mountain ranges display an almost unimaginable beauty.
After weeks of isolation civilization is reached again.
‘The Saloon’ is the perfect meeting place here news is exchanged and hilarious scenes regularly take place.

In navolging van het veel gespeelde en alom gewaardeerde ‘Lord Tullamore’, waarin Carl Wittrock op poëtische wijze landschap en culturele elementen van een Iers dorpje verklankt, wordt in ‘The Road to the West’ op filmische wijzehet pioniersbestaan in Amerika geschetst.
De componist betreedt in ‘The Road to the West’ het pionierspad in de periode tussen 1850 en 1890, de tijd van het Wilde Westen.
Het Wilde Westen was het gebied ten westen van de beschaving,het domein van cowboys, pelsjagers en andere gelukzoekers.
Genoeg ingrediënten voor een boeiend verhaal.

In de eerste scene gaat een avonturier, eenzaam en alleen, de strijd aan met de natuur en de elementen.
