Ledwidge started writing at an early age and was first published in a local newspaper when he was fourteen years old. Ledwidge left the local national school shortly after and worked as a farm hand, road surface mender, and copper miner at Beaupark Mine near Slane. Ledwidge became friends with a local landowner, the writer Lord Dunsany, who gave him a workspace in the library of Dunsany Castle and introduced him to literary figures, including William Butler Yeats and Katherine Tynan. Some of Ledwidgeâ??s manuscripts are held in the National Library of Ireland. The main surviving collection, including his early works and personal letters, are in the archives of Dunsany Castle.

This text is taken from the Dies Irae Sequence from the Requiem Mass. It is a contemplation of the arrival of judgment day. The A-sections, mm. 1-29 & mm. 43-end, are a manic depiction of the fierce wrath of judgment day. They should be sung with fire, crisp consonants while always enunciating the accents in order to realize the full effect of this powerful text. The entire demeanor of the tone and facial expressions should change for the B-section, mm. 30-42 as it is a plea for mercy. The audience should realize the change in this contrasting section. Translation Dies irae, dies illa: Day of wrath, that day Solvet saeclum in favilla: shall dissolve the world into embers Teste David cum Sibylla: As David prophesied with the Sibyl. Voca me cum benedictis :Call me to be with the blessed. Salva me fons pietatis : Save me, fount of pity. The Sibyl is a reference from a Greek word, which means Prophetess. In this context, the word appears in plural, referring to many prophetesses. David, or King David, has long been considered prophetic among biblical scholars. About the Arranger D. Farrell Smith is the Director of Choirs at Hilldale Middle School, and Hilldale High School in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He holds a B.A. in Music Education and the M.A. in Theological Studies. For the Pueri Cantores choral series, Keith Kalemba has crafted this fine choral arrangement of the timeless and beautiful chant Veni, Creator Spiritus. It was originally commissioned as a three-part piece for men's choir, but is presented here in Latin and English for any three-part choir, whether youth, women or men's voices. The ancient poetic images are skillfully evoked as the chant melody weaves effortlessly through the vocal parts.

Silberklang im Kirchenjahr for mixed choir (SAB and piano ad lib.) is THE collection of sacred choral music for senior citizens' choirs and older church choirs. Singing is a great hobby for many people, not only in terms of music, but also in terms of socializing in the choir. As the singers grow older, singing in extreme registers becomes especially difficult. That is why the arrangements of hymns and psalm settings, which are guaranteed to give your choir a lot of pleasure, are kept in a comfortable singable range (soprano to E2, alto to C2, men not deeper than G). As most choirs consist of more female than male singers, the arrangements are written in three-part form. Last but not least, the choral score, in extra-large print and with a clear layout, in combination with the pleasant tonal range will ensure that the senior citizens' choir can shine into old age. The continuous piano accompaniment supports the choir, providing a sense of security. With Silberklang, (church) choirs are able to still perform polyphonic works, even in their long-time formations.

A diatonic melody in even notes offset by a slightly irregular accompaniment characterizes this setting of Psalm 42. Unison and two-part verses alternate with the SAB refrain. An independent violin or C instrument part, soprano descant, and choral backup to the cantor’s final verse round out this most useful setting. For cantor or soloist C instrument
