De Haske Publications #DHP 1115083-140. Published by De Haske Publications (BT.DHP-1115083-140). 9x12 inches. English-German-French-Dutch. Chapters of Life is a moving concerto that musically carries the positive message that even life’s hardest knocks don’t mean the end. In three movements: Wild Days, To Dana and Chapters of Life, the solo trombone and solo tuba enter into a dialogue and the alto flute is also given an opportunity to shine.News: Selected as a FINALIST in the 2012 ITEA Composition Contest (USA)
Chapters of Life is een roerend concert met een positieve boodschap. Al zijn de tegenslagen nog zo groot, ze hoeven niet het einde te betekenen... Chapters of Life brengt deze boodschap bijzonder goed over.
Chapters of Life ci ricorda che i momenti difficili che incontriamo nel corso della vita sono solamente temporanei. Dovremmo, al contrario, apprezzare maggiormente ogni giorno, con i suoi alti e bassi, concentrandoci soprattutto sugli aspetti positivi. E’ l’ottimismo con il quale tutti noi dovremmo affrontare la vita, che è evocato in questo brano in tre movimenti, To Dana, A Celebration of Life e Chapters of Life.News: Selected as a FINALIST in the 2012 ITEA Composition Contest (USA). $90.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Euphonium or Baritone and Piano Baritone; Euphonium; Piano Accompaniment (SCORE+...(+)
Euphonium or Baritone and Piano Baritone; Euphonium; Piano Accompaniment (SCORE+PARTS) SKU: HL.4008509 Euphonium Concerto No. 4 for Euphonium or Baritone and Piano. Composed by Philip Sparke. Anglo Music Concert Band. Classical, Performance, Recital. Softcover. Duration 1110 seconds. Anglo Music Press #AMP536401. Published by Anglo Music Press (HL.4008509). UPC: 196288176275. Omaggio was commissioned by Steven Mead in celebration of his 60th birthday and in memory of his father, Rex. He gave the premiere of the brass band version in Rome in March 2022, accompanied by the Italian Brass Band conducted by Filippo Cangiamilla. The concertband premiere took place on 6th July that year as part of the 2022 Spanish International Tuba Euphonium Conference, accompanied by the Banda municipal de música de Málaga. The concerto is set in 3 continuous movements, which are united by a recurring syncopated interval of a fifth. The first movement, FANTASIA, opens with this motive accompanying an extended monologue for the soloist. This is followed by a lengthy bridge passage by the piano, which is eventually joined by the soloist, who guides the music back to the opening soliloquy, leading to an energetic central section. This develops until the opening material again returns to introduce the second movement, BALLAD, which revolves around an expressive melody for the soloist, interspersed by accompanied cadenzas. The thirdmovement, THE KING TRIUMPHANT, pays homage to Steven’s late father, Rex, and its title alludes both to Rex's name ('Rex' being Latinfor 'king') as well as his love of Eric Ball’s Salvationist masterpiece, The Kingdom Triumphant. The finale is an energetic tour-de-force featuring an acrobatic 6/8 melody, which is interrupted twice by the magnificent hymn tune, Helmsley, which Ball uses so effectively in The Kingdom Triumphant. A galloping coda brings the work to a close. $38.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 2 to 3 weeks

Concert band - Grade 3 SKU: MH.1-59913-053-X Composed by Robert Starer. Suitable for advanced middle school, high school, community and college bands. Conductor Full Score. Duration 3:15. Published by Manhattan Beach Music (MH.1-59913-053-X). ISBN 9781599130538. The term Rolling Earth comes from a poem by Walt Whitman and the music is a celebration of the planet we live on. It has three thematic elements: the sequence of chords of the opening, a brief staccato passage passed around different instruments in the fashion of a canon, and an expressive melody first played by the woodwinds and later repeated by the trumpet, saxophone and euphonium. A gentler section comes to a point of contemplation, when a strong rhythmic motive brings it back to the celebratory mood of the opening. Ensemble instrumentation: 2 Piccolo, 4 Flute 1, 4 Flute 2, 3 Oboe 1-2, 2 Eb Clarinet, 4 Bb Clarinet 1, 4 Bb Clarinet 2, 4 Bb Clarinet 3, 2 Eb Alto Clarinet, 3 Bb Bass Clarinet, 3 Bassoon 1-2, 3 Eb Alto Saxophone 1, 3 Eb Alto Saxophone 2, 2 Bb Tenor Saxophone, 2 Eb Baritone Saxophone, 3 Bb Trumpet 1, 3 Bb Trumpet 2, 3 Bb Trumpet 3, 3 Horn in F 1-2, 3 Horn in F 3-4, 3 Trombone 1, 3 Trombone 2, 3 Trombone 3, 3 Euphonium B.C., 2 Euphonium T.C., 6 Tuba, 2 Timpani, 2 Mallet Percussion: Xylophone. Concert band - Grade 4 SKU: MH.1-59913-070-X Composed by Timothy Broege. Suitable for high school, community, and college bands. Conductor score and set of parts. Duration 10:00. Published by Manhattan Beach Music (MH.1-59913-070-X). ISBN 9781599130705. Program Notes: Stylistically diverse -- tranquil, spirited pastoral, sensitive, energetic -- exhibiting a remarkable palette, the five movements of SINFONIA IX form a unique symphonic statement. Movement I, Prelude, is about contrasts: A lazy, smooth, motive in brasses alternates with, and then joins, an active and detached motive in woodwinds. The spirited Movement II, Morley's Ghost, is an intricate canonic collage and homage to that venerable theoretician & composer, Thomas Morley. By contrast, movement III, Dialog, speaks in a relaxed, lyrical, and pastoral language as it develops its gently rising and falling motives. Movement IV, Waltz, innocently celebrates the joys of childhood with a lilting melody and rondo form. For the rousing Finale, Movement V begins with a martial call of repeated-notes, heralding a headstrong journey of power and excitement. Like a number of the composer's other works, SINFONIA IX is based on earlier material: A brass sextet, written in 1966 when the composer was nineteen years old, forms the raw material for the first, third and fifth movements, while a later work, Martin's Waltz (a children's piece for flutes and clarinets composed in 1975) is the basis of the fourth movement. The second movement, however, is a fanciful contrapuntal commentary on Thomas Morley's 16th-century canzonet, Fire and Lightning. SINFONIA IX is dedicated to John Raforth, a distinguished band director and music educator at West High School in Madison, Wisconsin. The work was commissioned by his friends and former students, and was completed in 1977. Its first publication some twenty years later is a result of the increasing attention paid by university band directors to the earlier Sinfonias, particularly Sinfonia III (Hymns and Dances); Sinfonia V (Sinfonia Sacra et Profana); and now, Sinfonia IX. Whereas the first two works are wind ensemble compositions that have been championed equally by the concert band, Sinfonia IX is the composer's first college-level Sinfonia written especially for concert band. Ensemble instrumentation: 1 Piccolo, 8 Flute 1-2, 2 Oboe, 1 Eb Clarinet, 4 Bb Clarinet 1, 4 Bb Clarinet 2, 4 Bb Clarinet 3, 3 Bb Bass Clarinet, 2 Bassoon, 4 Eb Alto Saxophone, 2 Bb Tenor Saxophone, 1 Eb Baritone Saxophone, 3 Bb Trumpet 1, 3 Bb Trumpet 2, 3 Bb Trumpet 3, 2 F Horn 1-2, 2 F Horn 3-4, 3 Trombone 1, 3 Trombone 2, 3 Baritone B.C., 2 Baritone T.C., 4 Tuba, 3 String Bass, 2 Timpani, 5 Percussion. $175.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 4 to 6 weeks

Cosmic Expedition takes performers on a musical journey far across the galaxy via three main sections. This fanfare composition would be perfect for opening a concert. It has bold brass fanfare figures over textural woodwinds to start and then takes the listener on a sonic journey through a variation of harmonic colors, tambural and textural shifts. Cosmic Expedition takes performers on a musical journey far across the galaxy via three main sections. The first, a rather celebratory and triumphant fanfare in Bb major begins with the upper woodwinds and percussion creating a sound-screen, that is a busy texture consisting of a flurry of repeated notes over which the horns and alto saxophones present the opening theme. The sound-screen should be carefully balanced and give way to the melody at m. 5, which should be played extremely marcato. The timpani solo beginning in m. 11 must not be understated. A brief percussion interlude separates a restatement of the opening theme, this time with the addition of the trumpet, tenor saxophone, and euphonium, and a counter melody by the low winds. The percussion interlude is playful, light, but full of vigor and energy. An Ab in the low winds pulls the harmony towards G minor in m. 40 to start the second section, a more serious fanfare. Here, the marimba repeats an ostinato that is complemented by the bass drum and woodblock. The upper woodwinds with the xylophone and snare drum dance over the stern secondary fanfare. A longing call lead by the trombones, interrupted by a subtle snare drum beckons to the clarinets and horn who begin the third section of the piece at m. 68. This haunting melody in C minor is legato, and starkly contrasts all which came before it. A relentless concert tom-tom played with hard mallets keeps the momentum persistent, and a heartbeat-like pulse is felt from the tuba and baritone saxophone. The melody rises towards m. 84 when the brass harken back to the fanfare style before fading back into another lush woodwind strain.A recapitulation of the low winds’ call is heard at m. 100 which in this occasion intensifies into an emphatic statement by the battery percussion instruments. Now in Eb major, the opening fanfare theme is heard again once more before fading into the beginning of the piece’s conclusion. To end, the counter melody from the opening section duels with chromatic tension above before swelling to an arrival in the original key of Bb major. The full ensemble celebrates the piece’s resolution, and after a few crunchy power chords the journey is completed. $95.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 24 hours - In Stock

Resignation was composed in memory of one of Ed Kiefer's best friends. Evoking the struggle of coming to grips with the loss of a dear friend, the piece is based on the hymn, My Shepherd Will Supply My Need. It is dramatic, heartfelt, and overwhelmingly beautiful. As Hans Christian Andersen once said, When words fail, music speaks.. Dr. David S. Neither could I write a piece that could come close to reflecting his kind spirit, wit, personality or talent. In fact, it was almost impossible for me to write anything at all. My own grief and the stages of my grief kept getting in the way. I ended up with a setting of the hymn-tune, Resignation. Resigned. To the fact that he is no longer with us. I know he is in a better place, but we are not. We miss him very much. And so, My Shepherd Will Supply My Need seems to speak to those of us he left behind. I apologize if this piece does not reflect your special feelings for him or help you celebrate his moving on. Unfortunately, I could only put down what I have come to accept and hope in some way it may speak to any of you that knew him or to others of you who have also lost a close friend. My Shepherd Will Supply My Need. That is my hope and my hope for you.Although technically very easy, this composition requires a maturity of musicianship to be performed properly. The Bb contrabass clarinet part is integral to the composition, but there are cues in the tuba part if you need them.  Make sure you bring horns to the fore at m. 53 and the low brass at m. 59 so the melody can be heard without effort. Exaggerate dynamics to bring more emotion to the piece. Be careful not to diminuendo too soon near the end or it will be difficult to diminish even further at the very end, where the lone clarinetist holds over a couple of measures, fading into nothing. I hope your students will enjoy this piece and take from it a greater appreciation for the way making music can express feelings. $13.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks
