Every December, the Winter Band Festival is held at the Disneyland resort in Hong Kong where bands from various Asian countries perform and enjoy an international atmosphere. The Victoria Peak , a concert march by Satoshi Yagisawa - a popular composer in Asian countries and beyond - was commissioned for the festival in 2013. This bright, colourful work is ideal as an opening piece for your concert and will undoubtedly enchant wind music fans around the world!

Elk jaar in december wordt het Winter Band Festival gehouden in Disneyland Hong Kong. Orkesten uit verschillende Aziatische landen treden hier op en genieten van een internationale sfeer. Gerenommeerde en populaire componist Satoshi Yagisawa componeerde in opdracht van het festival van 2013 The Victoria Peak. Deze lichte, kleurrijke concertmars is ideaal als openingsstuk voor uw concert en zal ongetwijfeld blaasmuziekfans rond de hele wereld betoveren!

Jedes Jahr im Dezember findet ein Winter-Blasorchester-Festival im Disneyland-Park Hongkong statt. Bei diesem Anlass bietet sich Blasorchestern aus verschiedenen asiatischen Staaten die Chance, aufzutreten und die internationale Atmosphäre zu genießen. Der Konzertmarsch The Victoria Peak wurde vom Organisator des Festivals 2013 in Auftrag gegeben. Dieses lebendige, brillante, klangfarbenreiche Werk ist ein ideales Eröffnungswerk und wird zweifellos Blasmusikfans auf der ganzen Welt bezaubern!

The composition ".The Fever Tree". in 2008 was commissioned by the Music Association of Central and Eastern Netherlands St.Willibrord as a gift to all its members on the occasion of the formation of a national music organization and the elimination of the music union for Central and Eastern Netherlands St.Willibrord.
The fever tree is a controversial legend about St. Willibrord (658-739).
The daughter of a pagan chieftain of Hoemannen that made the area around
Heumen unsafe, was seriously ill. They feared for her life.
The chief of the gang turned to predatory Willibrord, who same time in this region led mission.
Willibrord commanded theman to repent and a headband of the girl
to a certain special tree to hang.
The desperate captain obeyed, and his daughter was a miraculous heal.
Then came the anger of the Hoemannen against their leader, who in their
eyes had committed treason by the group to convert. They abused themselves to him and killed him brutally.
The daughter remained behind in great sorrow, comforted by Willibrord.

The composition has the following scenes:

- Allegro moderato - Willibrord passes through the province of Brabant and try to people to repent
- Vivace - Hoemannen terrorize the inhabitants of the area Heumen
- Andante - the healing of the sick girl and the conversion of the centurion

- Adagio - elegy on the death of the chief

De compositie 'The Fever Tree' (De koortsboom) werd in 2008 geschreven in opdracht van de Muziekbond Midden- en Oost Nederland St.Willibrord, als geschenk aan al haar leden bij gelegenheid van de vorming van één landelijke muziekorganisatieen de opheffing van de muziekbond voor Midden- en Oost Nederland St.Willibrord.

De koortsboom is een omstreden legende rond St. Willibrord (658-739).
De dochter van de heidense hoofdman van de Hoemannen, diehet gebied rond Heumen onveilig maakten, was ernstig ziek. Men vreesde voor haar leven. De hoofdman van de roofzuchtige bende wende zich tot Willibrord, die in dezelfde tijd in deze streek missioneerde. Willibrord gebood deman zich te bekeren én een hoofdband van het meisje aan een bepaalde, bijzondere boom te hangen. De radeloze hoofdman gehoorzaamde en zijn dochter werd op wonderbaarlijke wijze genezen. Toen keerde de woede van de Hoemannen zichtegen hun leider, die in hun ogen verraad had gepleegd aan de groep door zich te bekeren. Ze vergrepen zich aan hem en vermoordden hem op gruwelijke wijze. De dochter bleef in grote droefheid achter, getroost door Willibrord.

De compositie kent de volgende tableaus:

- Andante moderato - de roeping van Willibrord
- Allegro moderato - Willibrord trekt door het Brabantse land en tracht de bevolking te bekeren
- Vivace - deHoemannen terroriseren de inwoners van het gebied rond Heumen
- Andante - de genezing van het zieke meisje en de bekering van de hoofdman
- Inquieto - de wraak van de Hoemannen
- Adagio - treurzang over de doodvan de hoofdman.

A Western Suite paints the musical picture of a group of gold diggers and adventurers in the Wild West! Opening with an optimistic march, followed by wistful sounds around the campfire, A Western Suite sees an exciting rodeo take place before the main theme brings the piece to an end. Bring the atmosphere of the Wild West onto the concert stage!

Raak in de ban van het Wilde Westen! Andreas Ludwig Schulte weet de sfeer van deze contreien op een uiterst treffende wijze te schetsen. Laat u meeslepen in het grote avontuur van de goud- en gelukzoekers. Euforie in het eerste deel!Een vlotte mars verklankt de opgewektheid en het optimisme. Maar bij het kampvuur komen de pioniers tot rust. Een weemoedige melodie verwoordt gevoelens van romantiek en heimwee, maar ook van hoop.Ontspanning vinden ze bij eenrodeofeest, dat in het derde deel muzikaal wordt verklankt. Flashback van het begin volgen, waarna de compositie waardig afsluit.

Die Western Suite zeichnet ein musikalisches Bild einer Karawane von Goldsuchern und Glücksrittern: Die Reise beginnt mit einem Optimismus versprühenden Marsch, gefolgt von wehmütigen Klängen am abendlichen Lagerfeuer. Am nächsten Tag findet ein schwungvolles Rodeo statt, bevor das Eingangsthema die Reise und die Komposition zu ihrem Ende führt. Bringen Sie den Wilden Westen auf die Konzertbühne!

L’oeuvre Western Suite dresse en musique, le portrait d’une caravane de chercheurs d’or et autres aventuriers. Le voyage commence dans une ambiance optimiste, qui se traduit par une pétillante marche. En soirée, la mélancolie s’installe autour du feu de camp, des sons lugubres s’échappent des instruments. Le lendemain est organisé un rodéo, festivité et excitation sont abordées par de riches lignes mélodiques, avant de réinterpréter le thème initial en final. Avec Western Suite, laissez entrer l’ouest américain dans votre salle de concert !

Il brano A Western Suite traduce in musica le avventure di un gruppo di cercatori d’oro e di altri avventurieri. Il viaggio inizia in un’atmosfera piena di ottimismo, che si riflette in una briosa marcia. In serata, la malinconia regna intorno al fuoco; gli strumenti emettono suoni quasi lugubri. L’indomani, gli avventurieri organizzano un rodeo, l’eccitazione per l’evento è affidata a ricche melodie, che anticipano la riesposizione del tema iniziale.

Pierius Magnus is a historical figure from the Friesland area of Holland. He was a farmer who became a resistance fighter against Dutch oppressors in around 1500. Whether Magnus was a hero or barbarian is still debatable, but composer Jan de Haan was fascinated by the exciting story and let it fuel his imagination. The protagonist is introduced with a capricious theme which is followed by “De Arumer Swarte Heap,“ the troops who took to the battlefields against the Dutch. An eerie calm takes over moments before Pier and his troops let their battle cries sound. The work ends as the disillusioned Pier retreats. A concert work overflowing with excitement!

Pierius Magnus is een historisch figuur uit Friesland. Hij was boer én opstandeling tegen de Hollandse onderdrukkers, zo rond het jaar 1500. Was hij een held? Was hij een barbaar? Hoe we hem ook willen zien, Jan de Haan zag in GruttePier ieder geval een spannende bron van inspiratie in voor een compositie. Hij stelt de nationale held direct in het begin aan ons voor met een grillig capricciothema. Daarna volgt: ‘De Arumer Swarte Heap’, zijn bende mannen dieten strijde trok tegen de Hollanders. Een moment van rust valt in. Maar niet voor lang, want de strijd barst in alle hevigheid los! Het werk eindigt met het terugtrekken van een gedesillusioneerde Grutte Pier...

Pierius Magnus ist eine historische Figur aus Friesland, ein Bauer und Aufständischer gegen die holländischen Unterdrücker um 1500. Ob Held oder Barbar lässt sich heute einfach nicht zweifelsfrei belegen, aber der Komponist fand die Geschichte einfach zu spannend, um sie nciht als Inspirationsquelle zu nutzen. In Pierius Magnus wird der Nationalheld gleich zu Beginn des Werkes mit einem kapriziösen Thema vorgestellt, gefolgt von seinem Haufen De Arumer Swarte Heap. Dann- bevor der Kampf beginnt- tritt ein Moment der Ruhe ein, bevor Pier und seine Truppe in den Kampf ziehen. Das Werk endet mit dem Rücken des desillusionierten Pierius.

Pier Gerlofs Donia est l’un des personnages les plus célèbres de l’histoire de la Frise au cours des années 1500. L’Histoire ne nous permet pas de discerner les réelles intentions de cet homme surnommé le grand Pier de par son imposante stature. Était-il un combattant de la liberté ou un authentique barbare ? Le compositeur a trouvé toutefois en cette emblématique figure, une source d’inspiration fascinante.

Pierius Grelofs Donia è una delle più celebri figure della storia della regione olandese della Frisia nel corso del 1500. La storia non ci permette di discernere le reali intenzioni di quest’uomo soprannominato Grutte Pier (il grande Pier) per la sua statura imponente. Fu un paladino della libert o un semplice barbaro? Il compositore ha trovato in questa emblematica figura un’affascinante fonte d’ispirazione. Le prime misure di Pierius Magnus descrivono l’eroe nazionale attraverso un tema capriccioso. Un secondo tema dipinge la brigata nera di Arum, pronta ad affrontare gli olandesi. Un breve momento di calma fa da preludio al combattimento, prima che Pier Grelofsentri in azione. Disilluso, il grande Pier si ritira; la fine dell’opera sancisce anche la fine del combattimento.

This programmatic piece tells the biblical story of the fall of Jericho. The music paints a vivid picture of the procession of armed men and seven priests marching around the city for seven days, before blowing their trumpets and to the cheers of the crowds watching as the walls came tumbling down. A dazzling opening work for any concert.

In Trumpets of Jericho staat het Bijbelse verhaal over Jericho centraal. Zes dagen trokken gewapenden en priesters met de Ark rond de stad, gevolgd door het volk der Israëlieten, terwijl de priesters op ramshorens bliezen.Op dag zeven trok de stoet zeven maal rond de stad - en toen de priesters bij de zevende maal op de horens bliezen, stortten de stadsmuren in. Dit arrangement begint met een kleine trom en suggereert een optocht vanuit de verte. Steedsmeer instrumenten sluiten zich aan. Het groot koper, de middengroep en het slagwerk stellen de Israëlieten voor. De trompetten verklanken de gewapenden en de priesters met hun ramshorens.

Trumpets of Jericho ist ein programmatisches Stück über den Fall der Mauern von Jericho. Sieben Tage lang marschierte das Volk Israel schweigend um die Stadt herum, während die Priester in ihre Trompeten aus Widderhörnern bliesen, bis die Mauern schlie�lich einstürzten. Mit kleinen Trommeln und den Bass-, Tenor- und Altinstrumenten für den schweigsamen Marsch sowie Kornetten für die Priester und Soldaten wird die spannende biblische Erzählung in diesem Stück lebendig.

Trumpets of Jericho est une ?uvre programme du compositeur et tromboniste uruguayen Enrique Crespo (1941). Jéricho est, selon le récit biblique, la première ville du pays de Canaan conquise par Josué et les Hébreux vers 1200 avant J.-C. Le livre de Josué relate la prise de Jéricho et comment, le septième jour - après avoir fait le tour de la cité en silence une fois pendant six jours - les murailles de la ville s'effondrèrent par la simple volonté divine après la procession, sept fois autour de la cité, de l'arche d'Alliance et de sept prêtres sonnant sept chofars (trompettes). La version musicale du récit est dâ??une grande intensité : on entend la procession au loin(caisse claire). Conduits par Josué, les enfants dâ??Israël marchent vers Jéricho et commencent leur procession autour de la cité (cuivres graves, instruments des registres alto et ténor). Les cornets symbolisent les hommes armés et les sacrificateurs qui sonnaient des chofars.

The Innocent Condemned tells of the so-called buck riders (bokkerijders) who, in the middle of the 18th Century caused mayhem in the area around Limburg. Calmer passages in the music depict the fear of the locals, while a vivo furioso describes a night raid, and powerful drum sounds together with emotional musical lines illustrate the execution of an innocent. A gripping piece of history caught in music!

Deze indrukwekkende compositie vertelt het verhaal van de ‘Bokkenrijders’, een bende rovers die in de helft van de 18e eeuw de streek rond Limburg onveilig maakten. Vele burgers werden nadien valselijk beschuldigd bokkenrijders te zijn geweest. Ze werden ten onrechte veroordeeld en brutaal terechtgesteld. In deze programmamuziek van Rob Goorhuis kun je de gebeurtenissen terughoren.

The Innocent Condemned (Der unschuldig Verurteilte) erzählt von den so genannten Bokkerijders“ (Bockreitern), die Mitte des 18. Jahrhundert die Gegend um Limburg unsicher machten. Ruhige Passagen im Werk zeugen von der Angst der Bürger, ein Vivo furioso beschreibt einen nächtlichen Überfall und vehemente Schlagzeugklänge sowie emotionale musikalische Linien illustrieren die Hinrichtung eines Unschuldigen. Ein packendes Stück Geschichte in Musik gefasst!

Selon la légende, les Buckriders étaient un gang de voleurs sans scrupules qui dévalisaient les fermes et les presbytères lors de leur passage. Il a été dit que les membres avaient fait un pacte avec Satan et chevauchaient dans le ciel dos de chèvres. Les passages calmes dans l’œuvre témoignent de la crainte des citoyens, un Vivo furioso décrit un raid de nuit et les sons véhéments des percussions suivis de lignes musicales lyriques illustrent l’exécution d’un innocent. Cette histoire de légende reprend vie gr ce la musique de Rob Goorhuis.
