This piece was composed in 2009 for a commission by Shinjuku Bunka Center to commemorate its thirty years since its opening.It is an impressive work with a brilliant, bright fanfare, and the stately sound of the church organ reverberating through the concert hall. The first performance was given by Hiroko Takahashi, a house organist of the center, with Shinjuku City Wind Orchestra conducted by Shigeto Ishizu. Original works for church organ and wind orchestra are surprisingly scarce. This is a fresh opening piece, to be followed by an organ solo which might lead to a march.Dit werk is in 2009 gecomponeerd in opdracht van het Shinjuku Bunka Center, ter gelegenheid van het dertigjarig bestaan van dit concert- en cultuurgebouw. Het is een indrukwekkend stuk muziek met een schitterende, stralende fanfare, waarbij de orgelklanken door de concertzaal schallen. De première werd gespeeld door Hiroko Takahashi, huisorganist van het centrum, en het Shinjuku City Wind Orchestra onder leiding van Shigeto Ishizu. Pandora appears in Greek mythology the first woman, created by the gods and sent to earth as an evil addition to the human race. ‘Pan’ means ‘all’ and ‘dora’ means ‘gifted’. Pandora’s Box must by no means be opened. The various stories surrounding this box inspired Yagisawa to write this dramatic piece, an addition to his series of pieces based on Greek mythology, such as Perseus. Pandora is een figuur uit de Griekse mythologie. Het is de eerste vrouw die de goden naar de aarde zonden. Ze kreeg een doos mee. Oppergod Zeus had de sleutel erbij gegeven en tegen Pandora gezegd dat ze de doos nooit moest openen als ze gelukkig wilde leven. Toch won de nieuwsgierigheid het en Pandora opende de doos. In een klap kwamen daar alle tegenslagen en onheil uit die een mens maar kunnen treffen. De verschillende verhalen rond deze doos inspireerden Yagisawa tot het schrijven van dit dramatische stuk. The young have the future. This is the statement made at the beginning of ‘Like a Child’ by Andreas Ludwig Schulte. The opening radiates strength and ambition, but one is also made to wonder which direction will be chosen, which choices will have to be made.After the introduction the first steps on the path of life are taken, still somewhat unsteadily (the 3/4th time used illustrates this uncertainty). However, the child has now set off and will meet the future with an open mind, unafraid, even though experience will teach it how easily it can be hurt.Fortunately, it is sometimes allowed to be vulnerable and it discovers there will always be someone to offer shelter,support and love. (Adagio) The last part breathes a far greater independence. Youth is able to face the future, it can even take on the whole world! Wie de jeugd heeft, heeft de toekomst. Met dit statement begint deze compositie van Andreas Ludwig Schulte. Het begin straalt kracht en ambitie uit. Maar welke kant gaat het op, welke keuzes moeten gemaakt worden?Na de inleidingworden de eerste schreden op het levenspad gezet, het is nog wat onzeker (de driekwarts maat voelt een beetje wankel). Toch gaan we daarna op pad, onbevangen, met open vizier de toekomst tegemoet al blijken er toch noch kwetsbaremomenten te bestaan. Gelukkig mogen we dat soms ook zijn en dan is er altijd wel iemand bij wie we geborgenheid, steun en liefde ontvangen. (Adagio)Het laatste deel straalt al veel meer zelfstandigheid uit. La Traviata is one of the most well-known operas by Giuseppe Verdi.The story of the opera depicts the conflict between free love and bourgeois morality. The young poet Alfredo and the Parisian courtesan Violetta fall in love with each other. They are happy together for a while, but Violetta gives up Alfredo, at the request of his father, to save the honor of his family. Only when it’s too late are the two reunited, with Violetta suffering from tuberculosis and dying in the arms of her lover. La Traviata Highlights consists of three movements, which can be performed as one large work, but can also be played separately. It makes use of many beautiful dance melodies and delightfulmoving arias from this captivating opera. La Traviata is een van de bekendste opera’s van Giuseppe Verdi. Het verhaal geeft het conflict tussen vrije liefde en de burgerlijke moraal weer. De jonge dichter Alfredo en de Parijse courtisane Violetta worden verliefd op elkaar.Ze zijn een tijdlang gelukkig samen, maar Violetta geeft Alfredo op verzoek van diens vader op om de eer van zijn familie te redden. Pas als het te laat is, worden de geliefden herenigd:Violetta lijdt aan tbc en sterft in de armenvan haar minnaar.
