Score Parties. Par BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN. The Trio for Three Flutes here presented appeared in 1964, when Jean-Pierre Rampal acquired a non-original manuscript of this work in the Czech Republic. Attributed to an early period for its light character and instrumentation, the Trio was taken into serious consideration by Beethoven scholar and redactor of arguably the most complete of Beethoven's catalogues, the chronological and thematic catalogue of all Beethoven's works, including the unpublished ones and the unused sketches (1968), whose 849 entries include the opus numbers, the Kinsky-Halm, the Hess, and the Grove catalogues. The Trio for Three Flutes is cited in the Biamonti Appendix II 64, as a work of uncertain authorship, but nonetheless attributed to Beethoven. The first recording of the piece was released by Jean-Pierre Rampal, who recorded the complete chamber works with flute by Beethoven for the Club Français du Disque label in 1964, together with Alain Marion and Christian Lardé. In lack of further information able to confirm Beethoven's authorship of this work, all that is left to the listener and performer is to enjoy the particularly brilliant vivacity of the composition, which may corroborate the hypothesis of a Beethovenian attribution./ Répertoire / 3 Flûtes Traversières

Based on source material from the archive of the Netherlands Music Institute in The Hague, this newly-engraved reconstruction of the Trio No. 1, Op. 51 by Benoit Tranquille Berbiguier for Three Flutes includes a full score and all three parts. Berbiguier is primarily known for his methods and small ensembles for flutes composed during and after his education at the National Conservatory of Music in Paris. The original edition from the archives, published by French publisher Janet and Cotelle, c. 1820, contains only three parts with no score. While the original aim was to assemble a full score while recreating the individual parts faithfully, editorial decisions were made throughout tocorrect many serious inconsistencies between the parts, especially regarding articulations and dynamics, and even including differences in tempo markings. The resulting standardized, consistent editions should allow students and teachers more effective - and more efficient - learning and instruction. Par TOMASI HENRI. French composer and conductor, Henri Tomasi (1901-1971) published Trois Pastorales for Flute Trio in 1964. As with his other wind compositions, Trois Pastorales was well-received by audiences. Tomasi was born in Marseille, but his Father and Mother were originally from La Casinca in Corsica. Despite being pressured in to musical studies by his parents, Tomasi dreamed of becoming a sailor, and during the summer, he stayed with his Grandmother in Corsica where he learnt traditional Corsican songs. However, in 1921, he began his studies at the Paris Conservatoire and went on to become ahigh profile composer and conductor. Tomasi did not forget his Corsican routes, often incorporating themes of the songs he had learned during the summers with his Grandmother in to his compositions. The Trois Pastorales are named; 1) Bolivian, 2) Cretan, and 3) Sicilienne. This Tomasi piece is suitable to an advanced Flute Trio, providing an exciting alternative addition to the ensemble repertoire./ Répertoire / 3 Flûtes Traversières
