The guitar is of oriental orgin. lt had reached Spain by the 8th century, presumably via the Arabs, and from there, like the lute, it spread through the rest of Europe. Over the centuries the guitar was further developed into an instrument with four courses of strings - this is evident from early-16th-century tablature-books, the earliest known.

In this book and online audio, master jazz guitarist Frank Vignola has taken eight different jazz standard chord progressions and recorded rhythm guitar parts so you can play along and learn these most commonly used chord progressions. He has also written out a jazz solo for each of the eight tunes. These are recorded at slow and faster tempos for practice. The first chorus of every track has both the solo and the rhythm guitar, and the rest of the choruses have just the rhythm guitar for you to jam along with. The notation for each tune includes a jazz solo written out in notation and tablature and also a chord chart. Includes access to online audio.

This publication is a completely revised edition of our five-volume guitar tutor. In the decades since its first edition, the musical interests of students and their practice possibilities have changed. To adapt to this, we have partly expanded and partly reduced the musical and technical material of the tutor. We have increased the number of recital pieces at all levels of difficulty,so that students can spend longer on a varied repertoire at their respective level. We have determined the works in the volume V which demand a more developed technique and musicality to extend the repertoire of those who wish to study further. The transcription of lute works has sometimes made significant compromises necessary. However, in our view, it is a significant gain that students can get to know a Dowland fantasy or an early English Baroque set of variations. This volume comprises 44 concert pieces from the early 17th to the 20th centuries, 18 advanced-level studies by Carcassi, Coste, Giuliani, and Sor, as well as several advanced-level technical exercises. Besides original works by Giuliani, Sor, Tarrega, and others, it features several transcriptions of works by Dowland, Rameau, J. S. Bach, and D. Scarlatti.

Olli Koskelin's then when A-go (2022) for guitar was premiered by Otto Tolonen, to whom the nine-minute work is dedicated. This product is a B4 sized folder, sheet music (performance score) enclosed as loose pages.Olli Koskelin's (born 16 April 1955) compositional output reflects a wide range of interests. The vast area covered by his style encompasses the neo-impressionism of the piano work Courbures (1989) to the post-expressionist echoes of his Music for String Quartet (1981) as well as the breakneck virtuosity of his clarinet piece Exalte (1985/1991) and the rich romantic textures of his orchestral piece ... like a planet silently breathing... (1993). He often uses the overtone series like the French spectral composers and avoids dramatic culmination. Soft harmonics, tranquil arching melodies, a leisurely rhythmical pulse and a coherence of mood are in evidence in his later works as in Uurre (1997) for chamber ensemble, Miniatures (1997) for string quartet and Circles within for 19 solo strings.

With its 50 Blues rhythms inspired by the biggest hits of the greatest guitarists of all time (Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Albert King, Muddy Waters, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robert Cray, Albert Collins, B.B. King, T-Bone Walker etc.), this tutorial will keep you pleasantly busy for quite a while. But there’s more to it than that! Besides affording pleasure, these rhythms allow you to discover and study the tools required for a good Blues accompaniment: triads, double stops, single notes, bends, barre chords, slides, hammer-ons, pull-offs, rest strokes, binary and shuffle rhythms, etc. All this is included in the guidelines given to you in the preliminary chapter –guidelines regarding the structure, the rhythm, as well as the chords employed. The DVD attached to the tutorial offers you the possibility to mindfully observe all 50 rhythms – first at actual playing speed, then at a slower speed. This again gives you the opportunity to closely follow the movement of the hands, to choose the right fingerings and keep a steady beat(!) For its part, the MP3 CD is composed of as many backing tracks as there are rhythms in the tutorial; the 50 backing tracks are recorded at two different tempi: the intended tempo (actual playing speed) and the rehearsal tempo (slower speed). On the backing track at actual playing speed the Guitar is only present during the first round, then it disappears, yielding the floor to you. The backing tracks provided here are of an appropriate length (about 4 to 5 minutes each, which sums up to almost 7h of musical practice). This means that you have enough time at your disposal to practice under the best conditions.

This publication is a completely revised edition of our five-volume guitar tutor. In the decades since the first edition, the musical interests of our students and their practice possibilities have changed. To adapt to this, we have partly expanded and partly reduced the musical and technical material of the tutor. We have increased the number of recital pieces at all levels of difficulty, so that our students can spend longer on a varied repertoire at their respective level. We have first of all selected works from the Viennese classics for this purpose but have also enriched the repertoire of the tutor with numerous pieces from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. In volumes Iand II of the tutor we have given Hungarian folk songs and children's songs a significant amount of space. In the course of revision, we have expanded the material of these two volumes with simple arrangements of folk songs, nursery rhymes and flower songs, and we have provided very easy, but valuable material for instrumental study in particular for children aged between 6 and 10. We have also expanded the chamber music material to be found at the end of the volumes, because we believe that playing music together is the best way to make instrumental study a lasting experience for our students. The parts are relatively simple, so the works provide a musical experience almost immediately.
