This Motown classic was a hit for Marvin Gaye in the 60's and later made popular by the California Raisins. John Berry gives it a new spin in this powerful version for jazz ensemble. The melody is traded between the saxes andtrumpets and solos are included for alto sax and trumpet.

This appealing and lighthearted tune by Charlie Parker is treated here in a medium-tempo samba style. A small group comprised of alto tenor trumpet trombone and guitar takes the lead for the first chorus. After a solo sectionfor alto sax andtrumpet the entire ensemble jumps in for a chorus while trading phrases with the drums. A very effective and unique offering for young bands.

Even though the TV show is for little tikes the familiar theme song is very popular with jazz players. (Go figure!) The saxes are featured on the head and the trumpets take the melody on the bridge.
