Francisco Coll: Piano Concertino: Orchestra: Instrumental Work
Piano solo
Faber Music Limited

(+)
Francisco Coll?s vivid and unpredictable Piano Concertino 'No seré yo quien diga nada' (?I?m not saying nothing?) is one of his most striking scores to date. Written for Nicolas Hodges this four-movement work with its idiosyncratic instrumentation (a bottom-heavy ensemble of Lower Strings Wind Brass and Percussion) flinty harmonies and taut rhythmic profile made a strong and lasting impression on audiences. For its UK premiere in 2014 (with the CBSO conducted by Thomas Adès) Coll added a substantial cadenza to showcase Hodges? formidable musicality even further. Drawing on material fromelsewhere in the work it provides a dynamic bridge between the icy third movement ? Interlude ? and the frenzied acrobatics of the final Postlude.

Beethoven, Ludwig van Concerto for Pianoforte and Orchestra no. 5 E-flat major op. 73 Beethoven?s fifth and final piano concerto is at the same time the culmination of his efforts in this genre and a reflection of all his artistic skill and expertise. The surviving manuscripts provide a clear insight into his working methods and his intentions regarding the work?s performance. The editor, Jonathan Del Mar, has closely scrutinised the autograph solo piano part and reproduced Beethoven?s sophisticated performance instructions for the first time in a modern edition. Among other things, this has special repercussions for the left-hand figured bass line of the piano part during the tutti passages. As with the Piano Concertos Nos. 1 to 4, the piano reduction appears with a separate solo part containing all the information needed by the soloist to conduct the ensemble from the piano. ? Many wholly new corrections in the solo and orchestral parts ? Piano reduction with a separate solo part, as was customary in Beethoven?s day ? With Beethoven?s continuo figures for the first time in a modern edition Edition no.: BA 9025-90 ISMN: 9790006559091 Editor: Del Mar, Jonathan Arranger: Schelhaas, Martin Product format: Piano reduction, Part(s), Urtext edition Includes the following individual parts: Piano, Piano Binding: Paperback Pages / Format: 67/49 S. - 31,0 x 24,3 cm

Clavier, Piano Et Solo

(+)
Par DELISE LOUIS ANTHONY. Louis Anthony deLise is an American composer, pianist, and percussionist. The compositions in A Gift of Moments are typical of deLise?s composing style that often features the juxtaposition of disparate musical elements like serial technique, frequently changing meters, the urgency and drive of rock and roll, and the lush harmonies of 1960?s West Coast Jazz. Dr. deLise was Adjunct Lecturer of Theory and Composition at the Boyer College of Music and Dance (in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania). He is the author of The Professional Songwriter, a textbook on songwriting. The title, A Gift of Moments, comes from something a friend wrote about her deceased husband. She described their too-short time together as, ?a gift of moments.? (Time with someone you love is always ?too short,? isn?t it?) Since February 2020, (since I?ve been locked down at home with my patient and loving wife, Theresa), like the rest of us, I?ve been reminded each day of just how delicate life is. My friend?s comment about her lost love has gradually revealed itself as a worthy title for the collection of music I was creating during this time of lockdown. All of the pieces in this collection are in some way about love: of a mate, of family, our way of life, and those beliefs we consider particular to us. The compositions are varied in style as they encompass musical gestures reflective of the many disparate musical traditions alive in my soul. With this unapologetically sensitive, perhaps even nostalgic, music of mine I intend to blur the arbitrary boundaries of genre classification, like classical or pop; ambient or orchestral. Special thanks to Vivian Barton Dozor, a wonderfully talented cellist who provided insight into bowing and phrasing for the cello parts. / Date parution : 2022-11-29/ Recueil / Piano

(+)
The final movement of the Sonata in A major KV 331 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart the Rondo Alla Turca is one of the most famous piano pieces of all time. Once only familiar to musical experts later a universal piece for all piano pupils its opening melody is now even omnipresent as an alienated sinus tone-like mobile phone ring tone. Fazıl Say's arrangement originally created as an effective encore follows on from this popularity. After the first eight bars have been presented in original form typical elements of jazz superimposed on the still recognisable classical foundations can be discovered such as syncopation of the top notes andornamentation through chromatic blue notes embedded in the at times frenzied chains of semiquavers. In the spirit of the work's improvisatory character Say likes to perfom his Alla Turca Jazz in different combinations for example accompanied by jazz singers of with orchestra. It may appear strange that Fazıl Say who was born in Turkey and - when not on tour - is still resident in that country does not bring back Mozart's interpretation of genuine Turkish music closer to its own roots particularly as many of his compositions such as Black Earth or the Violin Sonata are characterised by a subtle amalgamation of the Classical-Romantic tradition Turkish folk music and elements of jazz. In a further Mozart arrangement the ballet music Patara premiered in Vienna in 2006 composed on the basis of the Rococo-like theme from the first movement of the same A-major Sonata (wich enjoys almost as great popularity as the Alla Turca theme) Say utilised the connection which was absent in Alla Turca albeit in the opposite direction. In the ballet music the piano symbolises Western culture and the Ney flute Oriental culture communcated atmosperically by austere percussion instrumentation and soprano vocalisation.
