Twenty-Four Contemporary Pieces For Solo Piano includes a diverse selection of works from 16 of the world's leading composers. The 24 pieces featured in this collection represent the best of contemporary classical Piano music being composed today. As well as being a compilation of fantastically enjoyable compositions, the book also features interesting notes by each composer to accompany their music. These Contemporary Pieces For Solo Piano are at once accessible and musically inspiring, featuring some of the most talented and respected composers and their most definitive contributions to Piano music. Perhaps the biggest name included here is that of Ludovico Einaudi, whose wide reputation is a result of his masterful ability to pull at heartstrings, exemplified in his works Berlin Song, The Earth Prelude and Waterways, all of which are included here. Other giants of contemporary classical music are included in the collection, names like Philip Glass (Etude #11), Max Richter (Horizon Variations and Vladimir's Blues) and Hauschka, whose Can You Dance For Me, Early In The Park and Until It's Dawn perfectly encapsulate the emotive characteristics of all the pieces in this book. Composers like Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds, Dustin O'Halloran and Jóhann Jóhannsson evolved from a similar school that favours building atmosphere with hypnotic arpeggiation in composition, explaining why these composers are often used to great effect in film soundtracks.Other inclusions in Twenty-Four Contemporary Pieces For Solo Piano are simply too important to have left out, namely Nico Muhly's Hudson Cycle, two pieces by Joby Talbot as well as Tarik O'Regan's Lines Of Desire. The beauty of the songs here speak for themselves, but the composers have also written brief notes that preface each of the pieces, giving fascinating insight into either the composition itself or particular playing notes. Featuring some of the best compositions by the most respected and creative musicians writing today, the Twenty-Four Contemporary Pieces For Solo Piano within this collection are an exciting prospect for any pianist looking for some wonderfully inspiring music to learn and play. / Piano

Par MUSSORGSKY MODEST. The death in 1873 of Mussorgsky's friend Victor Hartmann was the stimulus for the initial creation of what was to become one of the most vividly colourful works in the orchestral repertoire. However, Mussorgsky's original piano version of Pictures At An Exhibition was not even published until 5 years after his death, and remained almost unknown until Ravel's masterful orchestration of it in 1922. From then on it has become favourite in the orchestral repertoire. This is the piano version of Mussorgsky’s famous work./ Répertoire / Piano

To provide greater availability for a work of such importance, the original publishers secured from Gershwin a solo piano version wherein the orchestral parts are fused together with the solo piano part (PS0047). Due to concerns that the composer's arrangement presented too many technical demands to pianists not possessing the requisite technique, a modified arrangement was delicately solicited from pianists of the time. (Gershwin's untimely death precluded any modification from the composer himself.) Many attempts at technical modifications were rejected on ethical grounds until Herman Wasserman--who taught Gershwin to play the piano--submitted a manuscript which became this edition. Several prominent pianists who reviewed the score all attested to the amazing reduction in technical demands while retaining the clarity, sonority, and brilliance of the original. This edition is designed for Early Advanced pianists, although some sections, including the well-known Moderato middle section, are accessible to those performing at less-advanced levels.

The Library Of Classical Music is a wonderfully vast collection of the greatest pieces of music from the Classical period. Featuring a diverse range of compositions from the innovators and masters, each work is arranged for solo Piano in a conveniently spiral-bound volume.Among the many composers whose work is included are C.P.E. Bach, J.C. Bach, Beethoven, Clementi, Czerny, Gluck, Haydn, Hummel, Mozart and Weber. The sheer amount of incredible music featured within The Library Of Classical Music makes this an essential book to have on your bookshelf or music stand. The joy of playing this music will be in learning your favourite pieces or discovering new ones by unfamiliar names. The Classical period saw a broad reaction against the layered complexities of Baroque music and led to a simpler relationship between melody and harmony. It reflected the mid-18th century's wider enthusiasm for reviving the clean, well-ordered structures of Greek classicism across the arts. The orchestra expanded in size, woodwind became a self-contained section and the Harpsichord was increasingly displaced by the recently invented fortepiano. Instrumental music dominated, notably symphony and string quartet, with examples of both strands represented here in beautiful and accurate Piano arrangements that are perfect for seasoned players of Classical music, or those new to the period. The Library Of Classical Music sheet music songbook covers the rich musical period that followed Baroque and preceded Romantic. The Classical era saw some of Europe's greatest composers exploring new musical possibilities, spanning some 70 years starting in the mid-18th century. The spirit of Classicism would last until the new preoccupations of Romanticism defined the next major period of Western music. All of this makes The Library Of Classical Music a brilliant collection of Piano sheet music that works as well as an introduction to the period as it does as a comprehensive anthology of the greatest works of that era. / Piano

Sept pièces pour piano. Par LAKS SIMON. Simon Laks (1901-1983), who moved from Warsaw to Paris in 1926 at the age of 25, belonged to the large group of composers from Central and Eastern European countries who went down in 20th-century music history as the ?École de Paris?. Slavic temperament amalgamated in their music with French esprit, the folklore of their native countries combined with the stylistic elements of neoclassicism and jazz typical of the time. As a member of the ?Association of Young Polish Musicians?, Laks quickly made his way into French musical life. However, his career was ended with the beginning of World War 2 due to the collaboration of the Vichy government with Nazi Germany. Internment in 1941 was followed by deportation to Auschwitz in 1942. Laks survived the Shoah as a member and later leader of a camp band in Birkenau, which he testified to in his moving book Music in Auschwitz. After the traumatic experiences, Laks did not return to regular compositional activity until the 1960s, producing an opera, songs, and chamber music works, some of which were awarded important composition prizes. At the peak of this optimistic creative phase, he composed incidental music for Peretz Hirschbein's famous Yiddish comedy Dem Schmids Techter (The Blacksmith's Daughters), which premiered in New York in 1918, for a new production of the play at the Théâtre de l?Entrepôt in Paris. Along with Prokofiev's Overture on Hebrew Themes and Shostakovich's cycle From Yiddish (Jewish) Folk Poetry, it is one of the most significant 20th-century explorations of art music with Jewish folklore ? homage to a culture irreparably destroyed. From the original score, Holger Groschopp compiled two suites, for violoncello and piano and piano solo, that capture the essence of Lak?s enchanting drama music. The premiere recording of the suites with Holger Groschopp and Adele Bitter was awarded the Opus Klassik 2023 in the category Editorial Achievement of the Year. . / Niveau : moyen - avancé / Date parution : 2024-01-06/ Répertoire / Piano

This book of First Australian Songs follows the world-renowned John Thompson's Easiest Piano Course method that has helped thousands of beginners learn the Piano. Now you can learn all of those famous Australian pop and folk songs with ease. The John Thompson's Easiest Piano Course is one of the best-selling Piano methods ever, and for good reason. The collection of repertoire books that are intended as supplementary material for these tutors are equally deserving of their praise, with the way they enable students to put what they've learned into practice through familiar and famous songs. This particular songbook is made up of those Australian Songs that remind you of a beautiful beach with white sands and a crystal clear ocean, while also representing the natural beauty of the flora and fauna of the great island.Popular tunes like I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing, Kookaburra Sits In The Old Gum Tree and Waltzing Matilda perfectly supplement students working through parts 2, 3 and 4 of the Easiest Piano Course, with the songs are also ideal for use as sight-reading practice by more advanced students. Other familiar melodies include Waltzing Matilda, Skippy The Bush Kangaroo and, of course, The Australian National Anthem. By learning and playing fun songs from this book, students will be more motivated to play the Piano and will become more musical as a result. What's more, this book is great in the sense that it creates a natural progression for beginners. The pieces become more difficult as they go on, meaning players have something to strive for. Also, because techniques like dynamics and phrasing (though essential) are not introduced until the later parts of the course, they have been omitted from the earlier parts of this songbook, so that initially the student remains focused on accuracy in the notes and rhythm. To enhance learning through fun-to-play popular songs, the First Australian Songs book will bring a taste of down-under to your fingertips. These jaunty melodies and happy tunes will get you playing, and improving, in no time at all. / Piano

With Piano Pieces In C Minor Woo 52 And 53. Par BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN. Beethoven's Sonata Op. 10/1 was composed over a long period between 1795 and 1798 in which the composer could not decide for quite some time whether to go for four or three movements. Beethoven considered two piano pieces in C minor (WoO 52 and 53) as potential third movements before the finale until he eventually decided in favour of a three-movement version without minuet or scherzo. The present edition for the first time contains the two eliminated pieces in the appendix, not in order for the sonata to be now played with 4 or even 5 movements, but as a suggestion for the planning of a piano recital in which both the three-movement Sonata Op. 10/1 and the two piano pieces can be performed together./ Répertoire / Piano

Par BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN. It was not until 1814, five years after the Sonata op. 81 ; Les Adieux, that Beethoven, then at the height of his popularity during the Congress of Vienna, returned to the piano sonata. The highly lyrical Sonata in E minor, the last piano sonata from his middle period, consists of two movements with solely German tempo marks and is dedicated to his piano-playing friend and patron, Moritz Count von Lichnowsky. In terms of technical difficulty regarding Beethoven's later piano sonatas, this sonata is one of the more accessible for advanced students. - Well-suited for advanced student lessons - Scholarly-critical Urtext edition at the forefront ofmusical scholarship - All known sources taken into account - Elegant musical engraving with optimal page turns - Valuable notes on period performance practice (Eng/Ger)/ Répertoire / Piano

Par SCHUMANN CLARA. This book presents seven piano solos that represent the wonderful variety of compositions by Clara Schumann. The brilliant “Polonaise” was composed and performed by Clara as a child prodigy. The enchanting “Prelude, Op. 16, No. 2”, and “Romance, Op. 21. No.2” are both beautiful and suitable for many occasions. The joyful “Mazurka” makes a great recital piece as well as “Scherzo” in C minor. “Nocturne in F, Op. 6, No. 2' is one of the most beautifully written nocturnes. Chopin once told Clara that she was the only woman in Germany that could play his music. She may have been inspired to compose this piece after performing many of Chopin's works in her concerts. The final piece in this collection of Clara Schumann’s Piano Notebook is her “Theme and Variations”, which she dedicated to Robert Schumann. Robert composed and published many variations of his own on Clara's theme. Her own variations remained unknown until recently. These variations are very interesting, and the theme is easily recognizable throughout. “Theme and Variations” truly showcases Clara’s unique sense of creativity. These piano selections are presented as examples of Clara Schumann's legacy–a great composer of the 19th century. Her music is timeless and must be preserved for future generations of pianists. This collection will be valuable for recitals, programs and your own enjoyment. / Date parution : 2020-11-16/ Recueil / Piano

24 Pieces For Piano. Par WOLF PETER E.. Péter Wolf (a doctoral graduate of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest) has composed a number of large-scale compositions in recent years which have had success at the hands of distinguished performers: these include two piano concertos as well as concertos for oboe, clarinet, and violin. By entitling his newest set of pieces for piano Wolf-temperiertes Klavier, the composer was able to simultaneously indulge in wordplay based upon his surname and give a tip of the hat to German baroque master Johann Sebastian Bach. The work's likeness to Bach is not limited to its title - the manner in which a piece has been written in both major and minor keys for each tone of the chromatic scale is blatantly inspired by Bach. In the preface to this publication, Wolf offers the following insights: ''I think I managed to find expressive titles. The first piece, Epiclesis (a prayer for inspiration, patience, and support), was heard from above: I was able to work continuously and without inhibitions. The works could be born in every key, until the last one, the Epilogue, was completed. When I finally finished inscribing the pitches of Bach's name, I admit, a little shiver went through me.'' Of the character pieces, all were completely new with the exceptions of one being previously written and another whose theme Wolf borrowed from one of his own stage works. Wolf-temperiertes Klavier is recommended for advanced pianists who wish to push the boundaries between musical genres, as well as classical musicians interested in the harmonic language of jazz. / Niveau : Intermédiaire à Avancé / Musique contemporaine / Répertoire / Piano

Par MOMPOU FEDERICO. Composed by Federico Mompou, Preludes Pour Piano is a set of four pieces with two hands for upper intermediate players. It covers the Preludes n° 1 to 4 written in 1928. Each of these preludes is written on one to four pages and can be played separately. The first one is short, to be played like a romance, with chords only. The second one lasts longer and features distinctive parts, starting with an energetic section followed by a sudden musical burst, the rest of it being slower until the animated close. The third prelude is quite slow and very expressive while the last piece of this book is quite short and simple. Federico Mompou was a Spanish pianist and composer. He composed numerous pieces for Piano and some songs./ Répertoire / Piano

Par GRIEG EDVARD. With his ?Lyric Pieces?, Edvard Grieg was writing a kind of poetic piano diary: between 1867 and 1901 he composed 66 short character pieces, published in ten books. Pieces such as ?Wedding Day at Troldhaugen?, ?March of the dwarfs? or ?To the spring? are among Grieg?s best-known works. Alongside these fairly virtuosic pieces there are also numerous simpler dances and melodies that can be played at an early stage when learning the piano. Until now only five single books were available from Henle (HN 619, 627, 644, 681, 713), but now we are publishing the complete collection in a collected volume, with fingerings by the Norwegian pianist and Grieg specialist Einar Steen-Nøkleberg. / Date parution : 2021-12-09/ Recueil / Piano
