E flat major-The Concerto For Alto Saxophone And Orchestra is Alexander Glazunov’s last work; since its first performance in 1934 it has become part of the standard Saxophone repertoire. The sole surviving autograph manuscript is the hand-written dedication score given by Glazunov to Sigurd Raschèr (Raschèr was the founder and leader of the well-known and innovative Raschèr Saxophone Quartet).This score contains the original version of the work without the alterations which were made in the proofs to the orchestral score as well as the full version of the composer’s cadenza which was later shortened. The autograph manuscript also containssome performance markings by Raschèr.The correspondence between Raschèr and Glazunov documents the composer’s thoughts on the work and his recommendations about the size of the accompanying String Orchestra. Chant Grec is a piece by Manolis Kalomiris for Alto Saxophone and Piano. Initially composed for Voice and Piano and first published in 1929 this work was arranged by Theodore Kerkezos. It lasts for approximately four minutes and was influenced by music of the Greek country and would be really nice for a recital. Quite difficult and suitable for upper intermediate players or above this lovely piece is divided into two main sections: Andante con moto and Sherzando with the second part being much more energetic than the first. This piece can also be played by a Soprano Saxophone. ManolisKalomiris (1883-1962) is a Greek classical composer. He studied in Vienna and Russia before settling in Athens where he became Director of the Athens Conservatoire. He produced more than two hundred pieces.

Contemporary Italian-French composer Armando Ghidoni brings together influences of both Italy and France in his music. Also as an expert on jazz the harmonies and rhythms of the composer's works reflect a huge diversity Jazzy Celtic Suite for Soprano or Tenor Saxophone and Piano or Harp being no exception. Ghidoni is significant within contemporary French music and his works are regularly chosen as set pieces for leading national and international competitions. Jazzy Celtic Suite reflects Ghidoni's mastery of a range of instruments suitable for intermediate players. With a typical performancelasting about thirteen minutes Jazzy Celtic Suite is an exciting addition to the intermediate Saxophone repertoire with the option of Piano or Harp accompaniment.
