Part I: Pierrot Lunaire, Op. 21. Par SCHOENBERG ARNOLD. Arnold Schönberg est la figure centrale du monde musical du XXe siècle. Sa signification musicale était déjà évidente pendant sa durée de vie, mais son influence à titre posthume a augmenté énormément. This volume of 'oeuvres complètes de Gabriel Fauré” contains Fauré's four secular choral works in their orchestral arrangements, namely 'Les Djinns”, 'La Naissance de Vénus”, 'Madrigal”, and 'Pavane”. These works were composed between 1876 and 1887 - thereafter Fauré wrote choral compositions based only on sacred texts. The first three works are presented here for the first time in a full score edition, previously having been published only in their versions with piano accompaniment. This edition is therefore the first to present the works with an authoritative musical text based on the careful study of the sources. 'Les Djinns” (1876-76) for mixed choir and orchestra is based on the famous poem by Victor Hugo first published in the collection 'Les Orientales”, while 'La Naissance de Vénus” (1882) for soloists, choir and orchestra is based on a text by Paul Collin. 'Madrigal”, the orchestral version of which cannot be dated with certainty (around 1891, for a quartet of soloists or choir) has been composed after a poem by Armand Silvestre, and the famous 'Pavane”, originally composed for orchestra and only later supplemented with a text by Symbolist poet Robert de Montesquiou, is presented here in an elegant, graceful version with mixed choir. / Date parution : 2019-06-20/ Répertoire / Chant et Orchestre

They represent only a small portion of Viennese ballet music attributed to Gluck for which musical sources have been preserved. The volumes form a compendium that offers comprehensive editorial coverage of Gluck's activities as 'Compositore von der Music zu denen Balletten' (composer of the music to the ballets). 'With Il Teuzzone, RV 736, the collected edition of operas by Antonio Vivaldi gains a new volume that brings to completion the pair of operas written by the ?Red Priest? for Mantua. Premiered during the last days of 1718, the opera preceded by a few months the production of Tito Manlio, RV 738 (PR 1411). This edition of Teuzzone, the first in modern times, is based on the two complete sources to have survived: a copy originating from the composer?s own archive (Biblioteca Nazionale Universitaria di Torino, Raccolta Mauro Foà 33) and the one today housed in Berlin (Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin ? Preussischer Kulturbesitz, Musikabteilung, N. Mus, ms. 125), which was made for the Mantuan production. Additionally, numerous secondary sources have been collated. An appendix to the volume contains the musical materials discarded by Vivaldi during the period preceding the opera?s premiere. The supporting texts for the edition report on new findings that have emerged from archival and documentary research. It has been established, for instance, that the aria Tu, mio vezzoso (I.03) is a borrowing from Alessandro Severo by Antonio Lotti, while the aria Tornerò, pupille belle (II.02) is a reworking of Nelle mie selve natie, an aria in Scanderbeg, RV 732. These examples reveal the pasticcio-like nature of this Vivaldi opera. In the section concerned with the description of the sources, which includes a meticulous codicological examination of the source in Turin, a bold attempt has been made to reconstruct the phases that the composition of Vivaldi?s opera underwent, an operation that sheds light on the inner workings of Vivaldi?s atelier. In addition, the close relationship of this score to a work with the same title staged in Turin with music by G. Casanova and A. S. Fiorè is analysed. '/ Répertoire / Chant et Orchestre

Giovanni Pacini's (1796-1867) opera 'Gli Arabi nelle Gallie' was composed for Milano where it was successfully premiered at the Teatro alla Scala on 8 March 1827. During the same year the work was also performed in Naples and Vienna and in the years to follow - outside of Italy - also in Madrid, Barcelona and New York.
