Bruce Fraser composed this test piece for the ‘Gouden Spiker Festival’ 2003 (The Netherlands).
Suite Celebration was inspired by events in his recent family life.

The first movement celebrates the marriage of his daughter and reflects her bubbly personality and vitality.
The melodies and harmonies of the whole work are based on a note row which came up during a discussion with the publisher.
The second movement celebrates the birth of his grand-daughter ‘Rebecca Aileen’ and takes the form of a ballad featuring expressive opportunities for the soloists.
The final movement is more of a look into the future and hope of success and a good life for hisfamily.

Duration: 14' Written for The New Music Players and Orchestra of Sound and Light for concerts in London and Sussex, with funding support from the RVW Trust and Arts Council England. Voyage To The Moon is a continuous score with outer fast sections and a slower inner section of a dream-like character. The work is inspired by a film entitled 'Le Voyage dans la Lune' (1902), written and directed by Georges Méliès. There is also a version of this piece for Orchestra, entitled Le Voyage dans La Lune.

Miniature Score. This work was commissioned by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. It was first performed on 13th May 1998 London. This piece is based on a genuine old tune 'Maxwell's Strathspey' which the composer found in an 1824 collection of Scottish melodies, and which unfolds at the start of the piece on solo cello. Variations and a bold up-tempo to the quick dance we know as a reel ultimately yield to the magic that has been promised right at the start: the northern lights take over at the end of the piece. Its inspiration comes from a walk to a community event in Hoy Hall, during which Davies saw the lights in the sky pulsing in and out of time with the sounds coming from the hall. Duration 12 minutes. Conductor's score and orchestral parts are available on hire.

World premiere Witten 1979This composition is the result of an intense study of the timbre element. It was premiered in 1979 during the Wittener Tage fur neue Kammermusik. The composition is bipartite; it contains a multitude of differentiation processes concerning articulation, linked with a tremendous rhythmic accuracy in every detail, and extremely small melodious shifts. Consequently the sound material is freed from its strait jacket of preconceived, external, and imposed structural restrictions. Minimal tone movements arise, sound spaces with an intense drama, out of which a new time-experience is created for the listener.The composition was inspired by the sculpture La Meditation by Auguste Rodin, which the composer came into contact with during an exhibition at the Nationalgalerie in Berlin. Rilke wrote about this sculpture: never before has a human body been concentrated like this around its inner essence, never before has it been strained like this by its own soul and eased again by the elasticity of its own blood.(Paul-Heinz Dittrich).
