Par DVORAK ANTONIN. Sonatina In G Major for Violin and Piano was written during a period of relaxed creativity and family contentment. Dvorak wrote it in America at the end of 1893 and dedicated it to his children who were both attending the National Conservatory in New York, where the composer acted as director. His daughter Otylie, later the wife of Josef Suk, and his 10-year-old son Antonin, also premiered the work at a family concert. The purpose for which it was intended is reflected in the simplicity and clarity of musical ideas, and the relatively straightforward technical demands of the piece. Antonin Dvorak?s symphonic poem Vodnik (The Water Goblin) was inspired by a poem penned by 19th century Czech poet Karel Jaromir Erben and consists of seven themes, representing characters in the poem. Par DVORAK ANTONIN. Antonin Dvorák?s impressive Stabat Mater for soloists, chorus and orchestra is probably the best-known of the composer?s sacred works. Some painful experiences in 1875 his first daughter died, and in 1877 he lost two other children in quick succession may have led to Dvorák?s preoccupation with the suffering of the Mother of God, who stands weeping beneath the cross of her son. The music enters into the different moods of the liturgical texts with great sensitivity. Nine movements in slow to moderate tempi serve as a kind of Passion meditation, before the ecstasy of a vision of the resurrection wins the upper hand at the end of the tenth movement. With our newly-publishedarrangement for chamber orchestra (flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, bassoon, timpani, and strings), smaller choirs now have the opportunity of performing this work without the choir being drowned out by a large-scale symphony orchestra. The symphonic character of the work is nevertheless preserved. This scoring offers an optimal balance between transparency and orchestral sound. All vocal parts (soloists and chorus) are identical with the original version. Op 45 No. 2. Par DVORAK ANTONIN. Dvorak composed the 'Slavonic Rhapsodies' op. 45 in 1878, launching his so-called 'Slavonic period'. When they were issued by the publisher Simrock the following year, these three self-contained orchestral pieces in D major, G minor and A-flat major were gathered together into a single opus. The 'Slavonic Rhapsodies' are now available in separate scholarly-critical editions and editor Robert Simon has taken the original print as the principal source, which was authorised by the composer. Il montra la partie de violon au célèbre violoniste virtuose Joseph Joachim, qui était d?ailleurs le dédicataire de l??uvre. De nombreux remaniements s?ensuivirent. Finalement, Joachim se désintéressa de l??uvre, si bien que la création en fut reprise par le violoniste tchèque Franti?ek Ondrícek. Cette ?uvre à la forme inhabituelle, qui commence et se termine par un rondo de sonate, est entièrement maintenue dans un caractère slave. Après le lyrisme du mouvement central, l??uvre se termine par des rythmes de danses tchèques. Cette édition Urtext est fondée certes sur les premières éditions de la partition, de la partie de soliste et de la réduction pour piano, mais aussi sur le manuscrit autographe.
