De Braziliaanse componist Antônio Carlos Jobim (1927-1994) schreef een aantal heuse standards. Naohiro Iwai arrangeerde Desafinado voor harmonieorkest.

Lieder wie The Girl from Ipanema oder eben Desafinado haben den brasilianischen Pianisten und Komponisten Antonio Carlos Jobim weltberühmt gemacht und sind mittlerweile Jazz-Standards, die in einem Atemzug mit Titeln von GeorgeGershwin, Cole Porter und Irving Berlin genannt werden. Die bekannteste Interpretation von Desafinado - was soviel wie schräg klingend“ heißt - ist sicherlich die des Saxophonisten Stan Getz. Naohiro Iwai schrieb diese gelungeneBlasorchesterbearbeitung des Latin-Jazz-Klassikers.

Avec Vicinius de Moraes et João Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim (1927-1994) est considéré comme le père de la bossa nova, un style musical qui se caractérise par un souple balancement et qui évolue sur les rythmes de la samba brésilienne. Penned by Brazilian songwriter Antonio Carlos Jobim in 1959, this famous bossa nova became a runaway American hit when sax artist Stan Getz and guitarist Charlie Byrd recorded it for their 1962 album Jazz Samba. A year later Getz won the Grammy for Best Jazz Performance and the tune went 'gold' when record sales surpassed one million copies. In this adaptation for instrumental combo, rhythm section parts are partially notated with chords cued and no improvised solos are required.
