His 555 Keyboard Sonatas remain ever popular to this day, and it is for this reason that this ninth volume is indispensable to performers of the genre. Nel secondo livello del volume che la collana «Ricordi Scuola» dedica al pianoforte si affrontano cinque nuovi argomenti: l’accordo, la semicroma, il sei ottavi, la terzina e le note ribattute. Création 02/08/2014 - La Grave, Festival Olivier Messiaen au pays de la Meije, Eglise - Michaël Levinas (piano), Jean-Luc Plouvier (claviers), Carlo Laurenzi (Ircam) Commanditaire Ircam - Centre Pompidou et du Festival Messiaen au Pays de la Meije avec le soutien de la Fondation Francis et Mica Salabert Notice Il y a dans le son du piano et le battement de ses nombreuses cordes comme une inclinaison des hauteurs, des dénivellations. J'y entends comme des désinences du son : les larmes des sons. Parler de désinence en musique, c'est devoir aborder, certes, des problématiques relatives à la langue musicale. Il y a des vraies grammaires du son lui même avec des implications complexes et formelles. La désinence du son se révèle à mon écoute, plus particulièrement, dans une écriture polyphonique rythmique et harmonique. C'est un des fondements de cette pièce pour piano acoustique et clavier midi. Les Désinences sont souvent conçues comme une sorte de choral aux lignes intérieures ornementées. Ces priorités aux modulations de plus en plus complexes résultant des grilles harmoniques jouées au clavier, peuvent rappeler aujourd'hui certaines mutations similaires qui ont existé dans le baroque français et la fin du baroque allemand. La première esquisse de cette pièce était conçue pour un piano Steinway sans électronique : des accords brisés évoluant à deux mains dans un cheminement vers une sorte de suspensions de la résonance. Les hauteurs du piano semblaient évoluer par petits glissements : c'étaient le glissement des désinences mis en évidence par l'écriture et à un pianisme nécessaire pour conduire les voix et les accords brisés. Cette esquisse était basée d'emblée sur des modes de jeux spécifiques de 1/2 pédales qui accentuaient les battements intérieurs des lignes et de ces désinences glissantes (j'utilise les 1/2 pédales et le grand legato dans mon travail d'interprète), en utilisant au clavier pour cette esquisse une technique de clavier très proche des substitutions et du legato de l'organiste et du jazzman. (Cette technique de pédale et de legato est utilisée et désormais notée dans la version finale et également exigée pour les claviers midi.) Après cette première esquisse réalisée pour un piano acoustique la suite a été un long travail informatique à l'Ircam de variations sur les désinences et les transitoires d'attaques de chaque hauteur du piano Steinway et d'un pianoforte à six pédales ainsi que la création d'échelles non tempérées jouées sur les deux claviers midi. Les Désinences pour piano acoustique et claviers midi sont des formes qui résultent d'une écriture dans laquelle polyphonie et harmonie sont la causalité l'une de l'autre. Polyphonies, harmonies, temporalités résultent comme dans beaucoup de mes oeuvres instrumentales récentes de l'élaboration des échelles spécifiques et des battements entre les désinences de chaque hauteur (de ces échelles) jouée sur les différents claviers.
