Dieser Lehrgang unterstützt die Lernlinie der Bläserklasse, bei welcher der Schwerpunkt auf musikalischen Lernzielen wie Rhythmus, Melodie, Form und auf dem gemeinsamen Musizieren liegt. Gemeinsam lernen and spielen umfasst zwei Bände. Band 1 beginnt mit den ersten Tönen und arbeitet auf das Spielen von Duetten hin. Im zweiten Band werden hauptsächlich dreistimmige Stücke gespielt. If the 2nd flute has no low B-natural, C-natural be played instead. (3rd movement measure 235 page 91) The part for the bass clarinet is written entirely in the treble clef a major ninth above the actual pitch. Horn parts written in the bass clef sound a fourth higher, never a fifth lower. If the special percussion instruments are not availalbe, the following substitutions may be made: The E-natural for the antique cymbals may be played on a glockenspiel (not the celesta); and The Bb for the small timpano on a side drum with snares silenced, struck with a soft felt stick. Several contrabasses must be provided with means for producing the extra low tones.

De Fransman Jean-Joseph Mouret (1682-1738) was een van de belangrijkste barokcomponisten van zijn land. Hij schreef veel opera’s en balletten als gunsteling van Anne-Louise Bénédicte de Bourbon-Condé, de hertogin van Maine. Verderschreef hij airs, motetten en instrumentale werken. De meeste hiervan zijn in vergetelheid geraakt, maar het fanfare-rondeau uit de eerste van zijn twee Suites de Symphonies(1729) is nog altijd populair. In de VS is het bekendals herkenningstune van het beroemde televisieprogramma Masterpiece Theatre, dat Britse dramaseries uitzendt. Dit vijfstemmige arrangement is een aanrader.

Der Komponist, Sänger und Dirigent Jean-Joseph Mouret gilt zwar als einer der wichtigsten Vertreter des französischen Barock, von seinem Werk ist jedoch vieles in Vergessenheit geraten. Nicht so Rondeau aus der ersten seiner beiden Suites de Symphonies von 1729. Dieses Stück ist heute noch weltweit bekannt, in den USA wird es sogar als Erkennungsmelodie einer beliebten Fernsehsendung verwendet. In der vielseitig einsetzbaren Ausgabe für fünfstimmig variable Besetzung von Lorenzo Bocci sehr zu empfehlen!

Jean-Joseph Mouret (1682-1738), surnommé le « musicien des gr ces », évoque, par ses opéras-ballets et ses divertissements, le type même du compositeur Régence : ses œuvres sont élégantes, charmantes et surtout légères. Ses deux Suites de symphonies (1729) laissent pressentir la symphonie française telle qu’elle s’est développée au cours de la seconde moitié du XVIIIe siècle. Le célèbre Fanfare-Rondeau est extrait de la première suite. Lorenzo Bocci en a réalisé un charmant arrangement cinq voix pour instrumentation variable.

He was worried that this “grand zoological fantasy” – consisting of 14 short individual pieces for eleven instruments – might overshadow his serious works. Yet only five months after the composer's death, it appeared in print after all, beginning its worldwide victory march – in its original setting as well as in numerous arrangements. Thus, the Carnival did in fact arguably become the most popular work by this French composer and, owing to its musical originality, it is also a favourite in music lessons or for school orchestra performances. This work was written for the Donaueschingen Musiktage of 1926 and given its first performance there together with Paul Hindemith's 'Konzertmusik' and Ernst Toch's 'Spiel' for wind band. Until a few years ago the score was thought to be lost. This first edition reproduces the original Version but it has been carefully extended so that it can be played by the usual combination of Instruments now found in a wind band. The work is suitable for advanced wind bands and those at the highest level, and is one of the first original compositions for this form of ensemble.Hans Gal was born in Vienna where he studied composition and musicology and then taught at the university. From 1929 until 1933 he was Director of the Musikhochschule in Mainz. He then had to return to Vienna and he emigrated to Edinburgh where he was a university lecturer and conductor. Together with Eusebius Mandyczewski he published the collected works of Brahms
