ISBN 9790006495702. 33.1 x 26 cm inches. Nicola Francesco Haym.
Handel began the composition of Tamerlano, one of the supreme masterpieces of Baroque opera seria, on 3rd July 1724. The libretto was an adaptation by Nicola Haym of Agostino Piovene's Tamerlano, Tragedia per musica, which had been set to music by Francesco Gasparini, and performed in Venice in 1711. When Handel dated the last page of the autograph on 4rd July the work appeared to be complete; but during the three months which passed before the premiere at the King's Theatre in the Haymarket on 31 October, so many alterations and revisions were made that a fresh performing-score had to be writtern very late in the proceedings, to replace an earlier one which is now 1ost.There were twelve performances between 31 October 1724 and 8 May 1725. Handel revived the opera only once, in 1731, for three performances. For this revival he marked in the performing score a number of cuts in the recitatives, which are reproduced in the present edition; there is more recitative in Tamerlano than in any other Handel opera.

ISBN 9790006550036. 33 x 25.8 cm inches. Pietro Metastasio.
As with many other libretti by Pietro Metastasio, “Ezio†was also set to music several times – besides Handel, by Nicola Porpora in 1728 and Christoph Willibald Gluck in 1750. As the historical events from late antiquity surrounding the Western Roman General Aëtius, who had defeated the Huns under Attila on the Catalaunian Fields, had largely fallen into oblivion by the 18th century, they merely form a backdrop to the highly-dramatic “Sex and Crime†on the operatic stage. In contrast with the original Roman story, “Ezio†remains alive at the “happy endingâ€, and the enthusiastic public experienced this version for the first time on 15 January 1732 in London . However, despite this, the opera only received five performances during Handel’s lifetime. Handel took the overture from his incomplete opera “Titus l’Empereurâ€. The new vocal score is based on Vol. II/26 of the Halle Handel Edition (BA 4086).

,I want to make an edition that is not a Koopman interpretation, but contains only that which Handel really wrote.' (Ton Koopman)
ISBN 9790004330982. 9 x 12 inches.
Ton Koopman's new edition of all 16 organ concertos by Handel has drawn to a close. The quality of this edition has been highly praised from all quarters. Source-critical responsibility goes hand in hand with a high level of performance practice when Koopman provides interpretative tips for the ad libitum passages in the organ part without restricting the creativity of the interpreter who is interested in stylistic matters and prefers to work out his own solutions. Whoever wishes to hear the entire Koopman edition on CD can look forward to the new recording by Christian Schmitt and the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester (Brilliant Classics). This is the first recording for which all 16 new Koopman editions were used as the basis for the performance.I want to make an edition that is not a Koopman interpretation, but contains only that which Handel really wrote. Nevertheless, there are occasional performance suggestions in small print which are elucidated in the Critical Commentary. (Ton Koopman in Concerto) Koopman offers a basically unmarked text, thus leaving the performance details up to the performer. Especially note-worthy is the clear printing, extensive preface and detailed Critical Notes. Messiah 1741 - new light on Handel's masterpieceThe focus of this new edition is the Messiah as first conceived by the composer in 1741: before its first performance in Dublin in 1742, before the first London performances of the mid 1740s, before the final Foundling Hospital performances in the late 1750s. The editor succeeds in creating a 21st-century edition from the perspective of 1741, making clear that Messiah was a genius hit from the start.Messiah 1741 - the first and only complete edition of Handel's autograph scoreThorough information on Handel's performance practice in 1741 (including topics such as orchestration, continuo, text underlay and specific questions on interpretation)It offers a reconstruction of the wind parts according to contemporary sourcesPiano vocal score with contemporary vocal ornamentationFirst edition including the German text by Herder - a monument of the German enlightenment - which is contentwise and phonetically closer to Jennens' text than any other translation, therefore being a perfect singable alternativeThe appendix contains additionally the most popular and important aria versions composed after 1741 for practical reasons.Throughout this new edition, creative yet pragmatic scholarship shines through, and the Preface and Critical Report are thorough and unusually fascinating. ...
