A Scottish Hymn (“Cantique écossais”) est un arrangement en forme de choral, basé sur une hymne de Charles Hutchenson (1792-1860), marchand et compositeur amateur écossais. Le cantique d’Hutchenson est connu sous le titre Stracathro, du nom écossais d’une ville du comté d’Angus. La mélodie a été associée à différents textes de louange dans l’Église d’Écosse. Dans cet arrangement, le choral est présenté à trois reprises. Un interlude sert de transition entre les deux premières expositions du thème, interprété dans un premier temps par un quatuor puis repris par les ténors.
