Nico Schoeters took his first percussion lessons with Eric Buyle in the Academy for Music and Word in Boom, near Antwerp, after getting the hang of it through private lessons by Jozef Vervliet. Afterwards he continued his music studies at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, where he was taught by Leo Ouderits, Carlo Willems and Koen Wilmaers. In 1998 he graduated there with great distinction as Master in percussion. After cooperating on various projects in Belgium and abroad as a freelance percussionist, Nico took up a position as a percussionist in the National Orchestra of Belgium. However, despite of all his achievements as a percussionist, Nico Schoeters didn’t take his first musical steps by playing percussion, but by playing the piano. His love for the piano remained a common thread in his musical career. For example, he played numerous gigs as a pianist with his jazz quartet ‘Just Friends, consisting of a number of top musicians who are his friends. In addition he started composing piano works in 2012. Cosmopolydian is my first composition for symphonic windband. It's a solo piece for flute and vibraphone which is dedicated to Inge Smedts, principal piccolo at the Royal Wind Band of the Belgian Guides. It is written in the context of a musical project ‘Cocktail Maison'. This project includes a concert on May 25th, 2017 in De Singel in Antwerp where this work will be premiered, a CD recording and a concert tour. All the pieces for this project are new compositions by Piet Swerts, Jef Neve, Klaas Coulembier, Etienne Houben, Bart Watté, Jan Huylebroeck, Francois Glorieux and myself. All the compositions are inspired by a cocktail. My choice is the Cosmopolitan, but the non-alcoholic version, the mocktail actually. The title Cosmopolydian is a nod to the lydian scale which I used as a base for the majority of the piece. The idea behind the music is an image of children enjoying themselves, worry-free, during the holidays. Tired but satisfied, they go to sleep and have wonderful dreams. The next day they wake up to start a beautiful new day. The work is constructed in a typical ABA form. A quick first part: ‘sparkling allegro', which of course should sound very light and playful. A slow middle part warm adagio, in which the beautiful dreams become audible. The last part is a re-exposition of the first part in which eventually all the themes merge into the final.

His name has become synonymous with the series of Violin concertos known as the Four Seasons , but he also wrote over 500 other concertos for various instruments, as well as dozens of operas and several sacred works. The Concerto No. 23 (RV 425) was written in 1725. Set in the key of C major, it was originally scored for solo Mandolin with String Orchestra and Continuo Bass (Cembalo). “Chant Premier, Op. 103 is a sonata for Tenor Saxophone and Piano by Marcel Mihalovici. Introduced by some verses by the Comte de Lautréamont, this very melodious piece was dedicated to S.A.S the Prince Raigner III of Monaco and is perfect to be played in a contest or for a recital. It was commissioned by the French Cultural Council. Considered as hard, this piece was initially written for Tenor Saxophone and Orchestra. This reduction starts ?Moderato?, with a tempo between 76 and 80 and requires the mastering of numerous technical aspects: trills, glissandos, accidentals and ornaments among others. The various nuances make this piece really interesting and challenging to play. Marcel Mihalovici (1898-1995) was a French-Romanian born contemporary composer, who produced numerous works, including plays, small operas, sonatas and studies.”.

Already during his lifetime Rossler-Rosetti enjoyed great popularity. His operas and symphonies achieved great success, most of them appeared in printing. His Requiem was first performed at Prague at a memorial festival dedicated to Mozart. He composed several concertos for piano, violin, violoncello, flute, clarinet, bassoon, corno and various ensembles. Out of his 14 flute concertos the here published Concerto in G major is to be found on page 25 of the thematic catalogue Breitkopf supplement XII (1778). The contemporary handwritten orchestral parts of the work are preserved at the King Stephen Museum at Szekesfehervar. It got into the possession of the Museum in 1951 with therich book- and music-collection of the family Verebi-Vegh.

Rossler-Rosetti genoss noch bei Lebzeiten grosse Popularitat. Seine Opern und Sinfonien erzielten grossen Erfolg, ein beideutender Teil davon ist auch im Druck erschienen. Sein Requiem wurde in Prag 1792 anlasslich der Mozart-Gedenkfeierlichkeit aufgefuhrt. Er komponierte viele Konzerte fur Klavier, Violine, Violoncello, Flote, Klarinette, Fagott, Horn und verschiedene Ensembles. Von seinen vierzehn Flotenkonzerten ist das hier erscheinende G-Dur Konzert in Breitkopfs thematischem Katalog Supplement XII (1778) auf Seite 25 erwahnt. Das Werk wird im zeitgenossischen Manuskript der Orchesterstimmen im Istvan Kiraly (Konig Stephan) Museum zu Szekesfehervar aufbewahrt,wohin es 1951 mit der reichen Bucher- und Notensammlung der Familie Vegh von Vereb gelangte.
