SKU: GI.G-4304SCD Composed by Edwin E. Gordon. Music Learning Theory (MLT). Instructional. CD. GIA Publications #4304SCD. Published by GIA Publications (GI.G-4304SCD). English. Edwin E. Gordon (Grades 5-12) The Musical Aptitude Profile (MAP) is the world standard in music aptitude testing. The MAP test is by far the most researched aptitude test on the market today, with more than 30 years of history as the most comprehensive test of music aptitude ever published. MAP is a complete test with seven components: tonal imagery (melody and harmony), rhythm imagery (tempo and meter), and musical sensitivity (phrasing, balance, and style). The entire test takes about 3.5 hours to administer. Revised in 1995, MAP now features remastered recordings and an updated manual. The test must be scored manually with a set of scoring masks available from the publisher. The MAP kit includes manual, compact discs, 5 class record sheets, 50 answer sheets, and 50 profile cards, scoring masks, introduction to testing booklet, and four research monographs.Short on time? For those who need only tonal, rhythm, and composite scores, we recommend the PMMA, IMMA, or AMMA tests (depending on the ages of the students). These tests take from 20 to 40 minutes to administer. $25.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

SKU: GI.G-10492 An Adventure with Movement Exploration. Composed by Lillie Feierabend. First Steps in Music. Music Education. 48 pages. GIA Publications #10492. Published by GIA Publications (GI.G-10492). ISBN 9781622775620. Includes book, DVD, and unique code to access DVD online.  The ultimate goal of Movement Exploration, one of the eight parts of John Feierabend’s First Steps in Music curriculum, is to use the body to appropriately demonstrate the expressiveness of the music. Experiencing various movements with accompanying music helps children develop lifelong sensitivities toward the expressiveness—or the “art partâ€â€”of music. There is no better vehicle for this than Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. The music and the story come alive when children are invited to actively participate, to become each character, and to respond expressively to their signature music. At the same time, each theme offers an opportunity to expand students’ creative movement vocabulary. Lillie Feierabend has presented The Nutcracker for over twenty years to the delight of her entire school community. Join her as she guides the first, second, and third grade students of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir in dancing each character and discovering the delight of moving expressively and musically to the Movement Exploration themes. Also included on this DVD: A voiceover track with John and Lillie Feierabend discussing each component of Movement Exploration Complete storyline with Movement Exploration themes and implementation ideas Parent engagement as they dance with their children Lillie Feierabend is known for her work with young children and instilling a love of music within them. She has been a general music teacher in Connecticut for thirty years and a director of the Connecticut Children’s Chorus for seventeen. She is a frequent clinician at local, state, national, and international conferences, speaking on many aspects of early childhood music. Dr. John Feierabend is considered one of the leading authorities on child development in music and movement. He is a Professor Emeritus and former Director of Music Education at the University of Hartford’s The Hartt School and is a past President of the Organization of American Kodály Educators (OAKE). $24.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks

Published by Carl Fischer Music (CF.CPS245). ISBN 9781491158128. UPC: 680160916726. 9 x 12 inches. ABOUT THE MUSIC Future of Tomorrow (Concert March) was commissioned by the Arts Education Branch, Ministry of Education as the set piece for the Singapore Youth Festival 2016 Arts Presentation for Concert and Brass Bands (Primary Level). This march uses brief excerpts from the well-known Malay folk songs Katak Lompat and Rasa Sayang. Our youths are indeed our future of tomorrow. This joyful-themed march aims to bring out the best in each of your young players. I hope that students, band directors and audiences will enjoy preparing, performing and listening to this work. EDUCATIONAL NOTES Key: Eb Major SECTION BARS EVENT / SCORING / SUGGESTIONS Introduction 1-4 Opens in Eb major with dotted rhythm motif. 1st Strain 5-20 Take note of melodic phrasing above the (light) oom-pah ostinato; melody repeats at m. 13 with the addition of countermelody in the inner lines; although written at mf dynamic, this anew ideaa needs to be heard clearly for contrast with the previous statement. 2nd Strain 21-36 C minor (relative minor); excerpt from Katak Lompat; melody in the lower brass/wind from m. 21 with a contrasting attitude/style from 1st strain; back to a more lyrical treatment from m. 29. Trio 37-56 Stays unmodulated in the same key; opens with a percussion solo feature before the start of the softer Trio theme; keep this section controlled and be sensitive to the balance; the metallic timbre of the muted trumpet/cornet needs to be heard clearly (might suggest to bring the dynamic level up to mf when muted); if cued-notes are played, make sure they are played throughout the melodic phrase as written to avoid awkward leaps. Break Strain 57-62 Excerpt from Rasa Sayang with some play in tonality and instrumental dialogue; quasi grandioso-style before the final strain. Final Strain 63-82 Back to Eb major with the reprise of the Trio theme; festive-like style with fuller orchestration and new countermelodies; dotted rhythm motif from the introduction concludes the march in a codetta-like section from m. 79. NOTE TO THE CONDUCTOR This march has been carefully written with reasonable technicalities and range in mind for younger players. Generally, optional cued notes in parenthesis are given for less experienced players who have yet to develop their range on the instrument. However, they should never be taken as an easy alternative for all players in the section; otherwise, this may result in a less than ideal flow of the musical lines. Marches are good tools to train tempo consistency, articulation and rhythmic precision as well as musical phrasing. I hope that there will be great learning opportunities for your students as they learn this piece. This march is separately orchestrated for both wind and brass bands to maximize the instrumental colors within each ensemble. The parts are therefore not exchangeable between the wind band and brass band sets. I wish you the best in the performance of this work. - Benjamin Yeo. 13 with the addition of countermelody in the inner lines; although written at mf dynamic, this 'new idea' needs to be heard clearly for contrast with the previous statement. SKU: HL.1753729 Royer Labs. Microphone. Hal Leonard #SF-24. Published by Hal Leonard (HL.1753729). UPC: 850035900062. 8.25x22.25x16.5 inches. The SF-24 stereo ribbon microphone is a phantom-powered version of our popular SF-12 stereo ribbon microphone. It combines the SF-12's high-quality audio performance, outstanding stereo separation, and imaging with our exclusive active electronics system for ribbon microphones. The SF-24's output of -38 dB is a full 14 dB more sensitive than our non-powered SF-12, putting its sensitivity on par with that of phantom powered condenser microphones. The unique electronics and custom-designed FET's used in the SF-24 allow for ultra-quiet operation, with self-noise of lower than 18 dB. Like an SF-12, the SF-24 is actually two matched ribbon microphones placed one above the other in a coincident pair, each aimed 45 degrees from center in the classic Blumlein configuration. The magnet/pole piece structure of each ribbon transducer delivers a wide, uniform frequency response with no substantial peaks or dips, and the 1.8-micron ribbons produce superb transient response. Frequency response is excellent regardless of the angle of sound striking the ribbons and off-axis coloration is negligible. The SF-24's extension cable comes with a Y adapter that splits into separate 3-pin male XLR connectors labeled “Upper” and “Lower” for the upper and lower capsules of the microphone (when held vertically). Features: • Phantom powered circuitry provides high output and impedance matching • True stereophonic (Blumlein and M-S) recording from one microphone • High SPL capabilities • No distortion up to maximum SPL rating • Extremely low residual noise • Ribbon elements are not affected by heat or humidity • Absence of high frequency phase distortion • Equal sensitivity from front or back of elements • Consistent frequency response regardless of distance • High efficiency, matching toroidal transformers • Very low magnetic leakage. $4999.00 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 1 to 2 weeks
