Der Schauspieldirektor (The Impresario) was composed in the spring of 1786 to fulfill a commission from Joseph II for performance during a visit to Vienna by the Governor-General of the Netherlands. The visitors were meant to be entertained with a short German and an Italian musical comedy during a festival arranged on short notice in Schonbrunn Palace. The choice of composers fell to Mozart and Salieri. Both pieces spoofed the theatrical practices of the day. Der Schauspieldirektor, by Gottlieb Stephanie the Younger, has a loosely-constructed plot that hinges on the vanity of opera singers and the empty-headedness of many traveling companies. Frank Lustig wants to create a new theatrical troupe, for which Herr Eiler is willing to supply money, but only on condition that his lady friend is allowed to join. In the course of the piece, appearances are made by other ladies with resonant names who want to be retained as singers and who attempt to outdo each other until reason is allowed to prevail. Score and part available separately - see item CA.5148600.

Illustrated by Nancy Sosna Bohm  Music and art can help us feel and express deep emotions. We can be happy or sad, but that is only the beginning. This beautiful book explores the powerful link between art, music, and emotion, and is ideal for deepening Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and building a fuller emotional vocabulary. Built on the principles of SEL, each page of The ABCs of My Feelings and Music offers an emotion word in a piece of colorful artwork, one for each letter of the alphabet. Below each illustration are three classical music suggestions to listen to while observing the art. Use the provided questions and a link to playlists to help unpack what children are seeing and feeling. The questions can also jumpstart meaningful discussions about how art and music can affect and help us express our emotions. This book is for children as well as teachers, parents, social workers, counselors, music therapists—anyone who works with children and understands the power of art and music. We hope this book helps you and your children/students expand their emotional vocabulary, have meaningful discussions about emotions, and think more deeply about how music and art makes us feel! This unique collection of Indian character pieces reveals a genre that has been neglected for many years, with much of the music having been out of print since the 1920's. Musically, the pieces are appealing to play and are a fascinating reflection of social and political issues our nation was facing at the turn of the 20th century. Contains detailed historical notes on this nearly forgotten aspect of American classical music, along with supplementary fingerings and practice suggestions added throughout by editor Stephanie Bruning, professor at Morgan State University, who is both a celebrated piano performer and expert in piano pedagogy.

This treasured Christian song is lovingly arranged for choir with an impressionistic approach to showcase the beautiful imagery of its poetry. The text teaches that grace is like a sacred snowfall that covers the wounds of the soul with beauty and mercy. Piano and choir dance in a gentle duet, creating a winterscape of whirling snowflakes on the wind. This stunning arrangement brings back the original song with artful sincerity, delivering a needed message for the modern church.
