These trios offer all trombonists the opportunity to extend their stylistic range and to practise playing together in a group. The pieces are already effective as duets (first and second parts). The third part extends the duets to trios and contributes to a full-sounding trombone group. An accompanying book is available for the rhythm section with parts for piano/keyboard, guitar, bass and drums.

The cantata Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich (O my Lord, I long for thee) BWV 150 is one of the earliest cantatas from Bach's Muhlhausen period. Its authenticity was long disputed, partly because of the stylistic characteristics of this early work, but also because the cantata only survives in sources dating from the period after Bach's death. However, in recent years a hidden dedication to Conrad Meckbach, a member of the Muhlhausen town council and patron of Bach, has been deciphered: the initial letters of the free poetry reveal the acrostic Doctor Conrad Meckbach (in the 18th century spelling), revealing a link to the city of Muhlhausen and almost certainly confirming Bach's authorship of the cantata. The occasion of the composition of the work is still unknown. The small instrumental scoring for just two violins, bassoon, and continuo, plus the fact that only the soprano is given a solo movement, suggest a performance with modest resources. Score and part available separately - see item CA.3115000.

Helmut Lachenmann is no doubt the composer who, since the late 1960s, has opened the door the most widely to a new sound world in the technique of composition for classical instruments. Not only that: he has also consistently explored new territories in his scores with respect to the notation of the new sounds and performing techniques. At the Stuttgart Musikhochschule, Matthias Hermann, himself a composer and conductor, has recorded in short video films all the expanded performance techniques that are essential to Lachenmann's scores. The CD-ROM programmed by Maceij Walczak is completely bilingual (German-English) and offers film (with sound), notation and a detailed explanation. All symbols and notational forms are systematically arranged according to the instrument. In addition, the CD-ROM contains two conversations in which Lachenmann expressed his views on the project in great detail in 2009 and 2010. The transcript of these texts is also available in English on the CD-ROM. In the four sonatas presented here for the first time, the royal composer can lay uncontested claim to an above-average talent. The works stand out for their imaginative power, their skill and their stylistic variety. The grand rooms of Sanssouci Palace must have been filled with heartfelt Adagios and brilliant Allegros that confirmed the virtuoso flute technique of the Quantz pupil. The sonatas were recently recorded on CD (Hungaroton) by the editor who, as a performer, is a recognized expert on the music of J. J. Quantz and Frederick the Great.
