Par BUKIN DANIEL. Concerto for Clarinet 'Corona', reduction for Clarinet and Piano, by Daniel Bukin. Recognized as the Honorable Mention composition by the New Music Committee of the International Clarinet Association as part of the 2022 Composition Competition .From the composer: '2020 was a year of colossal uncertainty and instability in nearly every facet of our day-to-day lives. But that uncertainty hit performing artists the hardest because it effectively shut down our professional lives entirely. As the year went on, I quickly found that I had to cope in a creative way with all the strange and powerful emotions that each new uncertainty brought. And this piece, Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra, was the result of such mental self-care.' In five movements: Everything Changes, Isolation, Outrage at 45, In Memoriam, and The Endless Anxiety. / Date parution : 2022-11-29/ Répertoire / Clarinette et Piano

It is largely atmospheric as it depicts the endlessly shifting vaporous uncertainty of ones belief in the unprovable. In thissecond year of releases in the Eugene Rogers Series this set of three will be a great addition to the male chorus repertoire.

Eugene Rogers Choral Series-Commissioned by Chorus America for the Boston Children's Chorus in memory of the first anniversary of the Boston Bombing. Berry's text describes the uncertainty of the human condition that can be felt in our violent contemporary times and the fear of the world that our children will inherit. In the years since the composition was first written during which an untold number of violent acts have gripped our headlines The Peace of Wild Things has become a memorial against all violence in our society.

The dating ?nel mese Decembre 1776? on the autograph of the Missa K. 258 is not authentic; it was most likely written towards 1775/76. On the autograph Leopold Mozart inscribed the title Missa but at the incipit on the old cover of the autograph collection he wrote Missa brevis. This points to the lack of standardization and uncertainty of the nomenclature. Although the work is written in the brevis form it calls for additional instruments besides the usual church trio which assigns it to the genre of the brevis et solemnis mass. Mozart added two oboes whose parts he wrote out himself and which are enclosed together with the primary copy. The two oboe parts seemto have been unavailable to any copyists.Urtext of the ?New Mozart Edition?Straightforward piano reduction in the vocal score Ideal for church services and concert performances Full score & performance material (BA4851) and vocal score (BA4851-90) for sale

Edward Fairlie's Storm And Urge is a significant work for Wind Band and portrays a journey of emotional turbulence. The title comes from the German ?Sturm und Drang ? a literary and musical movement of the late 1700s which focused on extremes of emotion. Opening with a simple and reflective theme we are then taken through a range of emotional settings from uncertainty to resistance and then calm resolve and self-knowledge. With a variety of textures and vivid imagery this is a masterful work for the contemporary ensemble.Instrumentation: Piccolo Flute I Flute II Oboe Eb Clarinet Bb Clarinet I Bb clarinet II Bb clarinet III Bassclarinet Contrabass Clarinet Bassoon Soprano Saxophone Alto Saxophone I Alto Saxophone II Tenor Saxophone Baritone Saxophone Trumpet I Trumpet II.

The young have the future. This is the statement made at the beginning of ‘Like a Child’ by Andreas Ludwig Schulte. The opening radiates strength and ambition but one is also made to wonder which direction will be chosen which choices will have to be made. After the introduction the first steps on the path of life are taken still somewhat unsteadily (the 3/4th time used illustrates this uncertainty). However the child has now set off and will meet the future with an open mind unafraid even though experience will teach it how easily it can be hurt.Fortunately it is sometimes allowed to be vulnerable and it discovers there will always be someone to offer shelter support and love. (Adagio) The last part breathes a far greater independence. Youth is able to face the future it can even take on the whole world!

Acis and Galatea HWV 49a1st version Handel set the myth about the love of the shepherd Acis for the sea nymph Galatea from Ovid’s Metamorphoses a total of three times: in the cantata Aci Galatea e Polifemo HWV 72 (1708) (BA4068) the masque Acis and Galatea HWV 49a (1718) (BA4039) and finally the pasticcio-like serenata Acis and Galatea HWV 49b (1732) (BA10700). This species of stage work was related to the early eighteenth-century English masque by virtue of its choral numbers and straightforward formal design and to the Italian serenata due to its use of one voice to a part in the choruses. In the England of Handel’sday it was given a multitude of generic names: besides “masques” such works were often called “little operas” “English operas” or “pastoral operas” (the term “serenata” had not yet entered English parlance). Handel himself did not specify the genre of Acis and Galatea in his autograph score and probably as a result uncertainty arose among copyists printers and performers as to the work’s proper designation for it has come down to us with a confusing array of generic titles. Handel wrote the piece for James Brydges (1674–1744) Earl of Carnarvon and later Duke of Chandos at whose country estate in Cannons the composer spent the years 1717 and 1718. - Urtext of the Halle handel Edition - Full score (BA4039) and vocal score (BA4039-90) available for sale - performance material (BA4039-72) available for sale

The sheet music for contemporary virtuoso composer Nico Muhly's So Many Things arranged for Mezzo-Soprano and Piano Accompaniment. So Many Things was commissioned by a number of institutions including The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association UC Berkeley and Carnegie Hall. Lasting around 15 minutes Muhly has set three poems to this wonderful music including a lengthy narrative poem by Joyce Carol Oates and two translations of C.F. Cavafy by Daniel Mendelsohn. Muhly has brilliantly managed to take the emotion of the words and replicate them through music creating an astonishingly movingaccompaniment that not only reflects the lyrical sentiment but complements it. He states that the Piano moves between skittish and ostinato relentless but often pausing for an effective break in the musical narrative. With drones and palindromes from the Piano the Voice leaps between intervals creating a dynamism that creates uncertainty rather than resolve much like the poetry.

Trusting Christ in everything is the focus of the worshipful “I Know the Plans.” Our future isbright and God is faithful to all of his promises. When Jeffrey Skidmore of Ex Cathedra approached me to write this piece he specified that it should be remembering the first World War and if at all possible the words should be by or about a woman.A friend steered me towards Vera Brittain's Testament of Youth and spookily the book fell open on page 163 where appeared Kathleen Coates' s poem 'A Year and a Day'. This was written between 1910 and 1913 but is I think prophetic of the impending war in its depiction of a woman and man in love reluctantly separated and missing each other. Around the same time my mother sent me the poem 'Since we parted yestereve' by Victorian statesman and poet Robert Bulwer-Lytton(1831-1891) — it seemed to fit beautifully as a refrain to 'A Year and a Day'.We start with the refrain in which I try to create a sense of yearning — with harmonies that lean into each other and suspensions that only partly resolve. I have given the ladies the first verse of 'A Year and a Day' — I have used mellow flat keys as this is marked 'languorously' as I picture a calm but pining Edwardian lady reclining in a warm English Summer's garden. When the men take over in the second verse this comes from a darker place — maybe a noisy fetid trench where dreams of love and happiness are sometimes hard to conjure. The music shifts in harmonic uncertainty — the harp oscillates and rumbles creating instability. This part is written in sharp keys which I think have a more stringent feel about them. The whole piece is made up of my typical major-minor harmonic language which sets a bittersweet atmosphere and the trumpets remind us from time to time of the backdrop of war. The piece ends meditatively with 'Eleven Armistice Chimes' and lasts approximately 10 minutes. It's dedicated to Jeffrey Skidmore and Ex Cathedra and my deepest thanks go to them for commissioning the work and Jane Arthur for sponsoring the commission.
