Par AHO KALEVI. Kalevi Aho's Solo XV for marimba and three triangles (2018) proceeds to a motor-like beat in music dominated by semiquavers momentarily interrupted by eight short triangle entries. The triangle parts gradually get longer towards the end, and during them the soloist has a chance to change the marimba sticks from soft to hard and back. The triangles also create an ethereal, lingering contrast to the motoric music. Solo XV was composed in November 2018 as a Christmas present for Austrian percussionist Martin Grubinger, who had performed Aho's percussion concerto Sieidi dozens of times in many countries. Duration: c. 11' This product includes the sheet music in a folder as B4 sized loose pages. / Date parution : 2022-05-31/ Répertoire / Marimba et 3 Triangles

Contemporary marimba virtuoso William Moersch has consistently commissioned the best musicians possible to create works for his instrument. In 1984 Bennett wrote his first work for Moersch After Syrinx II based on Debussyâ??s Syrinx for Flute solo and written. Then in 1988 Richard Rodney Bennett agreed to create an â??Americanâ?? concerto and so composed this concerto in two movements I con moto and II con brio that display the versatility of the instrument. Both movements feature blazing cadenzas by the marimba but it is in the cadenza in the second movement that the marimba essentially becomes the entire Orchestra in the Orchestraâ??s dominant 6/8 time signature andleads the piece on to a brilliant ending. Composer performer and arranger Richard Rodney Bennett was internationally respected for his serious music and many award-winning film scores (Murder on the Orient Express Nicholas and Alexandra) as well as his works for children and his religious pieces. In addition this markedly versatile musician frequently performed as a jazz pianist. On his move to the United States the two sponsors for his green card (work permit) were Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim.

Par BACH JOHANN SEBASTIAN /CIRONE ANTHONY J. Although many of the greatest composers from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods did not write for marimba, their works are still available and are perfectly suited for this instrument. Many of these works were written for violin and contain bowings and fingerings that assist in the stylistic interpretation for violin but do not apply to marimba. To that end, Tammy Chen has arranged a collection of outstanding pieces that work perfectly for marimba. To aid the performer in developing a musical interpretation of these master works, she added stylistic markings including phrasing, articulations and musical directives. Below are the compositions included from the Violin Sonatas and Partitas by one of the world’s greatest composers, Johann Sebastian Bach. Giga from Partita No. 3 Double #1 from Partita No. 1 Giga from Partita No. 2 Presto from Sonata No. 1 Allegro from Sonata No. 2 Allemanda from Partita No. 2 Preludio from Partita No. 3 Allegro Assai from Sonata No. 3 Menuetto I. from Partita No. 3 Menuetto II. A terrific composition for Solo Marimba by American composer Steven Mackey. See Ya Thursday is written for a five-octave Marimba partly to explore the range and its size means negotiating the contours of this work requires some subtle and moderately entertaining choreography from the Marimbist. Creston's music is distinctly tonal in the modern American idiom and possessed of a strong rhythmic sense. This 'Concertino' is approximately 15 minutes long. Reduction for marimba and piano.
