The ?Gloria? RV 589 is one of Vivaldi?s most popular compositions today and one of the most regularly performed sacred vocal works from the Baroque era. The work was in all probability composed around 1716 during Vivaldi?s time at the Ospedale della Piet an orphanage for girls in Venice. Although Vivaldi?s ?Gloria? (BA 8953) was written for solo voices and mixed choir it is likely that it was performed at the girls? orphanage with female voices only. Taking this into account Malcolm Bruno?s careful arrangement for choir SSAA is of some relevance. The work when set for female voices or children?s choir remains a true masterpiece. The ?Kyrie? RV 587 (BA8954)for two choirs and two string ensembles as arranged here for female choir displays its own charm. It can be performed together with the Gloria as a type of short mass. Both arrangements are based on the recently published Urtext editions of these works. The piano reductions by editor Malcolm Bruno are easy to play and preserve the character of the works.Effective arrangements for female choirForewords in English and GermanStraightforward idiomatic piano reductionsKyrie and Gloria can be combined for performanceThe orchestral parts for the original SATB version can be used for the performance of these arrangements.

The harmonic turns and piano configurations in La vie ant?rieure ??? the ???former life??? ??? seem almost exuberantly lyrical. At the beginning the archaic sounds and words of the male choir conjure up a dream world that is soon flooded with the power of the waves and the rich polyphonic harmony of the choir and the piano. With the outcry ???C???est l? que j???ai v?cu!??? [I have lived there] which expresses the fervent yearning to return to a past life the collective desperately reinforces the longing for the past. Once more the women???s choir conjures up this lost paradise in an undulating soft sound before the desolate sadness is pierced by the power of the music of the piano postlude creating a moment that is completely in the present.
Music runs through the story of Arion which begins with a singing competition i...(+)
Music runs through the story of Arion which begins with a singing competition in Sicily. Arion wins the prize and this puts his life in danger: his newfound wealth excites the greed of the sailors who are supposed to be bringing him back to Corinth and they threaten to kill him. They allow Arion to sing one last song and the power of his singing attracts dolphins to the ship. At the end of his song he jumps overboard and one of the dolphins carries him to safety. So Arion’s musical gift gets him into trouble but it is also his salvation. The idea of being rescued by a music-loving dolphin is very appealing. In Robert Graves’account of the myth the dolphin could not bear to be parted from Arion and accompanied him back to court where “it soon succumbed to a life of luxury.” However Herodotus says that after his rescue and return to Corinth Arion failed to return the dolphin to the sea and it died there. Apollo placed the dolphin among the stars and next to it Arion’s lyre in recognition of his musical skill. This is one of the mythical explanations of the origins of the constellations Delphinus and Lyra. It seems natural to sing a story that has singing at its heart. When I was asked by the Nicholas Berwin Charitable Trust to write a choral work for Making Music something that would be within reach of many choirs and involve children this story struck me as ideal: the men of the chorus could be the bloodthirsty sailors and the women could create an atmosphere of mystery for the arrival of the dolphins represented by children’s voices. There would be one solo voice: Arion the marvellous singer. Andrew Fardell the conductor who was advisor to this commission had suggested that I might use the same instrumentation as a popular arrangement of Orff’s Carmina Burana a work that as well as using children’s chorus features a solo countertenor. I thought the magical otherworldly quality of this

(Shout for Joy)-Mendelssohn wrote Psalm 66 Jauchzet Gott alle Lande (Shout For Joy) in 1822 when he was only 13 years old. He wrote it in a similar style to Handel's Messiah full of melismas and very much in a late Baroque style. With a keyboard part realized by Advanced Women's Choir Consortium creator Kathleen Rodde this is a wonderful new offering for college and women's community choirs. Heinrich Poos is not the first composer inspired by Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock's poem 'Die Auferstehung', as even Gustav Mahler had already used these verses in the fifth movement of his Second Symphony 'Auferstehung'. Mahler was inspired to use a choral movement at the end of his symphony at the funeral of the conductor Hans von Bülow where a choir sang a chorale based on said text by Klopstock. Heinrich Poos wrote his deeply moving choral piece in remembrance of the organist Hubert Schoonbrodt. / Choeur De Femmes (SSAA) A Cappella

A popular Requiem arranged for female voices In this arrangement of Fauré?s ?Requiem? for soloists (SA) female choir (SSAA) and Organ the tenor and bass parts are distributed among the altos which has necessitated some judicious adaptations in the part-writing. The second soprano replicates the original alto part largely unchanged while the original baritone solo now resounds in the alto. The Organ arrangement takes all three versions of the ?Requiem? into consideration but primarily follows the second version of 1893 in terms of the rhythmic presentation ofthe instrumental parts. However the Organ part is tailored to the arrangement rather than trying to imitate the sound of the Orchestra. This vocal score is compatible with the performance material of the original work (BA9461). - Arrangement for female choir (SSAA) based on the Urtext of ?Gabriel Fauré The Complete Works? - Includes an idiomatic Organ reduction.
