Für Oboe (Klarinette), Fagott Und Klavier. Par GERNOT WOLFGANG. Die Komposition verbindet aufs Neue die zwei Lieblingsbereiche des Komponisten: die 'E'-Musik des 20. Jh. sowie den Jazz. Vom Jazz kommen die rhythmischen Elemente, während die die Einflüsse der 'E'-Musik in der kompositorischen Entwicklung sowie in den formalen Aspekten hörbar sind. In harmonischer Hinsischt fühlt sich der in L. A. /USA lebende Komponist von beiden musikalischen Welten gleichermaßen inspiriert. Par KRAUS JOSEPH MARTIN. The first volume of the new scholarly edition contains the complete chamber music without a keyboard instrument. The most important group of works comprises the string quartets, 10 of which have survived. They were composed during the 1770s, whenHaydn was developing this class of music. The differing balance between such contrasting musical elements as entries in imitation, courtly melody, swift changes of tempo and unexpected modulations gives each of the quartets its special charm. Thefact that six of them were published in 1784 as Krauss 'Opus 1' by the publisher J. J. Hummel shows that the composer himself was convinced by his quartets. With the Flute quintet this volume alsocontains another key work in Kraus’s chamber music. Composed in Vienna about 1783 and also issued in manuscript copies, this work was printed by Ignaz Pleyel in Paris in 1799./ Répertoire / Ensemble de Chambre

Here the fourths, springing from an entirely different expressive urge, shape themselves into a defi nite horn theme, spread themselves out architectonically over the whole piece, and place their stamp on everything that happens. Thus it turns out that they do not appear here merely as melody or as a purely impressionistic chord effect; their character permeates the total harmonic structure, and they are chords like all others.' The Chamber Symphony Op.9 heralded a breakthrough in Schoenberg's compositional style. While the work did not go hand in hand with the complete destruction of the old tonal system it does show an extension in chordal and melodic constructions. It's focus on the interval of the fourth rather than the third is stated right at the start with the horn fanfare and this leads into the use of the whole tone scale soon after. These two elements open up a new sound space which he would explore further in the works to follow. Für Violine, Klarinette Und Klavier. Par GERNOT WOLFGANG. Green Island ist dem Andenken des stilbildenden, 2007 verstorbenen Jazzsaxophonisten Michael Brecker gewidmet. In diesem Satz leben auch Erinnerungen an zwei Reisen nach Irland auf, die tiefe Eindrücke in mir hinterließen. Die diesbezüglichen musikalischen Bezüge können am deutlichsten in den Präsentationen des Hauptthemas am Anfang und Ende des Satzes erkannt werden. Die bildliche Vorstellung einer vom Mond beleuchteten Veranda irgendwo in den Südstaaten war die Inspiration für 'Night Breeze'. Eine sanfte, warme Brise raschelt in den Bäumen und begleitet den Dialog Violine /Klarinette, unvermutet pausiert der Wind... und beginnt wieder. Die Anregung für 'Chromatic Train' war die Visualisierung einer von einer Dampflokomotive gezogenen Eisenbahngarnitur. Der Zug verlässt langsam den Bahnhof. Wir werden Zeugen einer lebhaften Konversation zweier Passagiere (Vl./Kl.) Harmonisch gesehen werden hier alle zwölf Töne der chromatischen Skala verwendet. Der Zug erhöht das Tempo... Whilst his musical schemas are often audacious and innovative, the security and light touch with which Coult carries them out ensures that his Four Perpetual Motions are always as expressive as they are impressive. Coult was one of the winners of the 2012 Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Prize and was consequently commissioned to write this 13-minute work for the Philharmonia's Music of Today Series.
