a cura di Federico Maria Sardelli. Par VIVALDI ANTONIO. Among Vivaldi’s many flute and recorder concertos, two, both for transverse flute, were known until a few years ago only in incomplete form: RV 431 and 432. Both are written in the comfortable and expressive key of E minor, are transmitted inautograph manuscripts and lack their second movement (RV 432 also lacks its third movement). The seemingly enigmatic instruction “Grave sopra il libro” replacing the second movement has given rise to the most fanciful hypotheses. The discovery in Edinburgh, in 2010, of a concerto for transverse flute in D minor entitled “Il gran Mogol” suddenly shed light on the situation: this was an earlier version of RV 431, now complete with its middle movement, a “Larghetto” that is verypossibly identical with the one missing in RV 431. This “Gran Mogol”, which belonged to Robert Kerr, a Scottish nobleman and amateur flautist, was already known by name to scholars on account of its listing in an eighteenth-century catalogue as partof a set of Vivaldi concertos bearing geographical titles: more recently, there has come to light a letter written by Vivaldi three months before his death in which the composer describes this set in detail. It is very likely that RV 431 and RV 432belonged to this group of works, the last known collection of its kind in Vivaldi’s oeuvre. This critical edition places these closely related works side by side for the first time, placing them in their historical context and making them performable through its reconstruction of some lost parts. / Niveau : Intermédiaire / Date parution : 1905-07-09/ Répertoire / Flûte Traversière Cordes et Basse Continue

Par D'ADAMO DANIEL. The starting point for the composition of this piece was the musical observation of sound materials that were both tiny and extremely detailed, expressing a strong musical potential. Nano-sounds, materials which belong to a relatively small and hardly perceptible acoustic world which through composition, are projected on a much wider listening scale. This change of perspective, both real and imaginary, takes place through the composition of the score and of the electroacoustic part, but especially through the amplification and diffusion of the instrumental and the electronic sound on the loudspeakers. / Date parution : 2022-02-03/ Répertoire / Quatuor à Cordes et Electronique

Arnold Schönberg: String Quartet No. 2 - F# minor for soprano and string quartet op. 10 PH229 Arnold Schoenberg's String Quartet No. 2 op. 10 with soprano (1907 /1908) is among the founding documents of New Music. Instrument: for soprano and string quartet Edition type: pocket score Composer: Schönberg Arnold 'This quartet adds a new element to Schoenberg's creative oeuvre: brevity. It was already indicated by the succinctness of the Chamber Symphony and is clearly expressed in the structure of the F sharp minor Quartet with four shorter movements. There is only a small step from the harmonic language of this work to a complete renunciation of tonality. The last movement - although, in the main, belonging to F sharp mayor - no longer carries a key signature. Chromatic alteration turns the fourth chords into harmonies never heard before, free from any tonal context.' (Anton Webern)

String Quartets Book II op. 9-Six works belong to opus 9 the first group of Haydn’s String quartets of which we know. The composer also went new ways as far as form was concerned: whereas he had still adhered to the five movement divertimento inthe previous quartets opus 1 and 2 in this case he favoured four movements something he continued in the future. Apart from this he also expanded the register and experimented with metric surprises (for instance in the trio ofthe minuet from the G major quartet).

Suite pour violoncelle et piano. Par LAKS SIMON. Simon Laks (1901-1983), who moved from Warsaw to Paris in 1926 at the age of 25, belonged to the large group of composers from Central and Eastern European countries who went down in 20th-century music history as the „École de Paris“. Slavic temperament amalgamated in their music with French esprit, the folklore of their native countries combined with the stylistic elements of neoclassicism and jazz typical of the time. As a member of the „Association of Young Polish Musicians“, Laks quickly made his way into French musical life. However, his career was ended with the beginning of World War 2 due to the collaboration of the Vichy government with Nazi Germany. Internment in 1941 was followed by deportation to Auschwitz in 1942. Laks survived the Shoah as a member and later leader of a camp band in Birkenau, which he testified to in his moving book Music in Auschwitz. After the traumatic experiences, Laks did not return to regular compositional activity until the 1960s, producing an opera, songs, and chamber music works, some of which were awarded important composition prizes. At the peak of this optimistic creative phase, he composed incidental music for Peretz Hirschbein's famous Yiddish comedy Dem Schmids Techter (The Blacksmith's Daughters), which premiered in New York in 1918, for a new production of the play at the Théâtre de l’Entrepôt in Paris. Along with Prokofiev's Overture on Hebrew Themes and Shostakovich's cycle From Yiddish (Jewish) Folk Poetry, it is one of the most significant 20th-century explorations of art music with Jewish folklore – homage to a culture irreparably destroyed. From the original score, Holger Groschopp compiled two suites, for violoncello and piano and piano solo, that capture the essence of Lak‘s enchanting drama music. The premiere recording of the suites with Holger Groschopp and Adele Bitter was awarded the Opus Klassik 2023 in the category Editorial Achievement of the Year. . / Date parution : 2024-01-06/ Répertoire / Violoncelle et Piano

Emb Urtext. Par VIVALDI ANTONIO. Similar to Vivaldi's concertos and compositions for violin, his 9 cello sonatas also bear the mark of a genius of exuberant temperament. Since they belong to the basic repertory of the cello it increases the importance of the edition that the music includes the partly deviating performing marks of the surviving authentic sources of the pieces for the first time./ Répertoire / Violoncelle et Basse Continue

Par UEBAYASHI YUKO. Contemporary Japanese composer, Yuko Uebayashi moved to Paris in 1998. Uebayashi 's works have been met with much success in both Japan and France, Suite For Flute And Cello being no exception. Flautist, Jean Ferrandis described Uebayashi 's music as 'gems that, although they are so different, they yet belong to the same world, a world of vivacity, dreams, tenderness, humour, and one that is subtly contradicted by vehemence, virtuosity, melancholy and sorrow. ' Suite For Flute And Cello is made up of six movements with a typical performance lasting around 18minutes. Suite For Flute And Cello is modern in style, exploiting tonality, rhythm and the ensemble. Uebayashi 's Suite For Flute And Cello is a sublime addition to the advanced repertoire of the instruments./ Répertoire / Flûte Traversière et Violoncelle
