Traditional church Organs are no longer the exclusive domain of Bach and the like - popular styles have conquered the “king of instruments” and found wide-ranging forms of expression. The only thing missing to date is a broad selection of suitable pieces. This is where Jazz Inspirations For Organ steps in. This comprehensive collection of moderately difficult pieces by various composers and organists offers “classical” swing jazz blues and Latin numbers side by side with rumba ragtime and calypso. A chorale prelude on Silent Night rubs shoulders with a Swing Fughetta and Latin for Lefties. The collection's great attraction lies in its personal treatment of the various themes. The editors are experienced organists fully conversant with the timbral possibilities of the pipe Organ. Their suggestions regarding registration are valuable tips that allow organists to develop their own style and be creative.

Par HAENDEL GEORG FRIEDRICH. In terms of layout and musical text, this scholarly-critical performing edition of George Frideric Handels Complete Organ Works is based on the complete edition volumes of the composers keyboard music edited by Terence Best as part of the HalleHandel Edition (HHA). The HHA Critical Commentary forms the basis of this edition, which however differs from the HHA volumes in two respects. Firstly, it gathers together, for the first time, all of Handel works for which it can be solidly argued that they were composedfor the organ. The centre piece is a set of twelve handwritten fugues deriving directly from his immediate surroundings and published here, for the first time, as a unified cycle. Secondly, our edition presents plausible alternative readings fromvarious sources in the main body of the music. In the HHA these readings, all of which definitely or presumably stem from the composer, are merely listed in the critical commentary. - A detailed Foreword contains a description of the sources, followed by comments on the individual works. In addition this edition includes contemporary organ dispositions and a Critical Commentary. - Scholarly-critical edition based on the Urtext of the Halle Handel Edition (HHA) - First single-volume edition of Handels organ works - Includes all variant readings from the sources which have previously only been available in the Critical Commentary of the HHA - Detailed Foreword (Ger/Eng) with short descriptions of each source and a Critical Commentary (Ger/Eng) - With contemporary organ dispositionsContents:Fuga I in C minor HWV 610Fuga II in G minor HWV 605Fuga III in B-flat major HWV 607Fuga IV in F minor HWV 433/2Fuga V in E minor HWV 429/1Fuga VI in G major HWV 606Fuga VII in D minor HWV 428/2Fuga VIII in A minor HWV 609Fuga IX in B minor HWV 608Fuga X in F-sharp minor HWV 431/3Fuga XI in F major HWV 427/4Fuga XII in F major HWV 611“Fuga in E major” HWV 612“O the pleasure of the plains” in G major HWV 474“Jesu meine Freude” in G minor HWV 480 A scholarly-critical performing edition of George Frideric Handel 's Complete Organ Works based on the Halle Handel Edition (HHA). Bach: Complete Organ Works Vol. 5
Sonatas / Trios / Concertos - ed. by Pieter Dirksen
Organ Works Based on Compositions by Bach and Others
Genres such as sonata, trio and concerto were initially uncommon in the keyboard music of the early 18th century. Thus it comes as no surprise that many of the pieces in this volume are arrangements by Bach of original compositions and of works by other composers. Next to the Sonatas BWV 525?530 and the Concertos or concerto movements based on pieces by other composers BWV 592?596, the volume also contains the Trio in D minor BWV 583, the Trio settings BWV 585?587 as well as the early versions of BWV 527 and 528. Moreover, the CD-ROM offers eight arrangements of trio movements by Bach made by others. In his detailed introduction, Pieter Dirksen discusses various aspects of these pieces' origins, inasmuch as they help us better understand the works. The organist will especially welcome the comments on performance practice and registration. It is precisely the fact that these works derive from chamber-music models that leads to individual considerations for each work group.

Par SCHROEDER HERMANN. Concerto da chiesa' is the last organ work by Hermann Schroeder (1904-1984). It was composed a few months before his death. The premiere was performed by Clemens Ganz, then organist at the Cathedral of Cologne, in memory of the esteemed teacher and college colleague. The work marks the end of a tirelessly prolific life with more than one hundred organ works of various characters, genres and possibilities of use in liturgy and concerts.
The title 'Concerto da chiesa' reveals that this is a work for concerts, not for being used in services. The three-movement composition is an unmistakable 'Schroeder' work: emphasis of linearity according to high baroque standards, conciseness and sometimes impulsive gestures of the themes and rhythms, layers of parallel chords within a freely tonal modern harmony, not forgetting the plasticity of form and the motor functions which are surprisingly energetic for an eighty-year-old./ Répertoire / Orgue

Freely Composed Organ Works-This performing Urtext edition contains ?free? Organ pieces (i.e. not based on a chorale) and chorale partitas from various source traditions. Owing to doubts about their authenticity they did not appear in the New Bach Edition until the end of 2003 (NBA IV/11). Today however scholars view Bach?s authorship of these pieces either as certain (e.g. the valuable Fantasy in C minor BWV 1121) or at least worthy of serious consideration.Bärenreiter therefore decided to issue them in this separate performance edition. This volume comes in addition to the nine volume edition of Bach?s Organ music (BA 5179).

Jonathan Harvey (1939-2012) was a British composer who studied at St Johns Cambridge and Princeton and who later taught at various universities and conservatoires across Europe and North America. His psychedelic work Laus Deo has become a brilliant showcase for 20th century Organ music. Commissioned by Simon Preston in 1969 it was supposedly inspired by a dream in which an angel played the main themes to him on an Organ: Harvey said he finished the piece within 12 hours of waking from the dream. It has since become known for its ear-piercing dissonances and exciting cluster chords.
